A couple really big SEC games today. Will Tennessee's luck run out against the aggies? Maybe it's not luck so much as the odds evening out as the Vols had their share of unluck last year.

And then you have Arkansas/Alabama. Arkansas looked good against A&M. Today we find out if they are pretender or contender.

The LSU/ Florida early game should be fun. Oh snap, just remembered, won't be played. The Florida coach and AD were shocked to learn Thursday a storm might interfere with the game, after it was too late to move to a safer venue.

There is also Texas/Oklahoma, a probable must game for Strong to keep his job. Texas has fractured fan basewith Strong, much like LSU has had with Miles.

LSU fans who want Tom Herman as coach will be pulling for Texas. There is some scuttlebutt String is already a goner, but I can't see them letting him go if they beat Oklahoma and then lose only one other game.

I'm still amazed that this LSU Florida game just isn't going to happen. How can you have a legit SEC champ when there are two teams with one less SEC game on their resume?

I think when folks calm down the game probably will happen. Like most LSU fans I am angry SEC office alllowed Florida to manipulate the system.

LSU got screwed. But you know, life ain't fair. Our best recourse is to play them and beat them, the missed game works more to their advantage than to ours.

And if we have to give up home South Alabama game, so be it. I like watching big games. A grudge match game with Florida where we can maybe eliminate them from being East champion holds more appeal for me than playing South Alabama. I don't care about the money issue. Also, LSUs slim chances of winning the West are probably better by playing Florida (although that might change today if Arky beats Bama).

I disagree. LSU is in a terrible position if they Florida in that spot. They give up a ton of revenue, give Florida a chance to heal, and play 3 SEC road games in 12 days.....I wouldn't do it. In all likelihood the Tigers won't win out, so its probably a moot point.

The LSU/Florida game should have been played this weekend or on Monday. No if, ands, or buts.

Florida can win the SEC if they win out and Tennessee gets two more losses (very possible). I want to knock them out.

We are playing three games in 12 days anyway. If we lose, so what. It's a game. I would rather take a shot at beating a Florida than play meaningless money game.

This is one I would actually let the players vote on. Who do you think they would rather play? If you were a player, would you want a piece of Florida or comfort of rent a win game?

It seems to make the aggravation a lot worse today in that the current weather around Gainesville appears to be rather pleasant without the city having been impacted greatly by the storm.

But still the whole situation was not handled properly by the SEC. :aargh:

Colllege game day thread and no Bob E?

Oh the humanity. 😱

My guess he was in beach house in South Carolina partying and got swept out to sea. I mean what other explanations are there?

Lot of weather prep still going on here in Virginia. I imagine he has been busy, and may even still be at the office, or sleeping a long night off.

Or he could have won the lottery and disappeared into the mountains with Charlie Sheen and a couple of Back Page ladies for a long weekend. Either one is possible.

Holy moly the "taunting" foul in the ND v NC State mud bowl
As bad of a call as I've seen in long time

I watched the SEC Network last night because the 1988 Auburn at LSU "Earthquake Game" was the feature contest on their Rewind series and I wanted to relive how that incredible game unfolded (once again). Seeing that it was truly a defensively dominated game by both teams, I was amazed by how different games are officiated now versus how they were back nearly 30 years ago.

I saw at least 6 (but probably up to 9) instances of hits and tackles that would definitely have been flagged as personal fouls in today's game. While I didn't see an obvious taunting by either team in the replay of the game, there seemed to be a few examples of 'extra-curricular' activity by both teams at the end of some plays.

While the pounding that Tommy Hodson received was taken in stride, there is little doubt that many of LSU's stalled drives early in that game would have been allowed to continue in today's version of the game simply based on the 'roughing-the-QB' penalties that would have been called and the first downs that would have ensued as a result.

That now-famous game would likely have been completely different had they been playing by today's rules and officiating crews. :jpshakehead:

First TD in the NC State game is a blocked punt. Fitting.
