"Two defensive coaching candidates the Saints will consider adding to staff include Eric Mangini and Romeo Crennel, per league sources. "

-Schefter

Even mentions that they could both possibly come in together serving different roles.

Both of these guys together? What are we doing? Trying to hold everyone to zero points next year?

January 25, 2013Two defensive coaching candidates the Saints will consider adding to staff include Eric Mangini and Romeo Crennel, per league sources. It’s even possible the two could go together to New Orleans with one serving as defensive coordinator, sources said. When reached Friday about this possibility, Mangini said he has not been contacted by anybody from the Saints about any position. Mangini and Crennel worked on the same Patriots coaching staff that won three Super Bowls in New England. Saints have told people they plan to proceed with their defensive coordinator search slowly and there’s no rush to fill the position.

Sadly the 2 gap is going to require a lot more work on the D Line. It will keep the linebackers clean more often though because of the bigger bodies.

Also when we landed Gregg and won a Super Bowl. People rightfully get excited when you add someone with a strong resume to your staff.

Seems to work out more often than not, though as we saw with Spags, not always.

Mancini worked as a defensive backs coach with the patriots before named defensive coordinator, and was well regarded in the position.

If this is the guy who will replace Flajole, then I am excited, but I am not sure if I want him as DC.

If it is the other way around, Crennel's speciality is defensive line.
