Schoolchildren taught praise song about Obama (2 Viewers)

So, I guess my question is why doesn't this song belong in a public school? What about it is unconstitutional or immoral? What about it even hints at some sort of government control?

Are you serious? You will win the argument that there is no law against it, but that still does not make it ok. I do not want my tax dollars going towards paying a teacher who is overtly placing her politics in the classroom.

In this instance what is the difference between public and private schools? The Constitution contains the concept of separation of Church and Sate, not the separation of state and state. And, while I think it's dumb and a waste of valuable education time to teach children this song, shouldn't teachers have the freedom to do what they think it best to educate the kids under their care?

Finally, how do we know that this is not a private school? Unless someone has more information, all we have is a Youtube video and honestly, the facilities look more like something a private school would have rather than a public school. This frankly seems more like another scare video being used to convince people that Obama is evil and he wants to brainwash and eat our children. I'm not a huge fan of all of his policies, but the hysteria being created about the man is ridiculous.

I don't think the pledge of allegiance belongs in a public school either.

This is reasonable because of the mention of God.

This is reasonable because of the mention of God.

It's also reasonable because I don't think anyone's children should be "pledging allegiance" to anything.

"Politics in the classroom"

IMO, the classroom is no place for politics or religion. Discussions should be objective, not subjective. If you have kids, you should be the primary influence on a child's direction involving religion and politics. Not a teacher.

If you don't think it's a form of brainwashing, I think you underestimate the delicate nature of a child's mind.

I have never once gotten involved in a political thread on these boards because, quite frankly, they get ridiculous and furthermore I like to keep my political opinions to myself while respecting each side of a debate. While I don't think this is a big deal the far right will most likely view it as such. Also, I think even the far left can agree that it has no place in a classroom. Shouldn't they come to their own personal conclusions when they are old enough to do so?

:9: The thread should've ended after cpg's post.. Right, don't make a big deal out of this, because it's not. Left, don't try to defend it, because it's obvious that this kind of thing doesn't belong in public schools. End!

..this.

I have no problem with the Pledge Of Allegiance. I can understand where one would have an issue with “Under God” but as far as the Pledge goes, I figure the United States has given our children the opportunity of an education in a free country so the least we can do is respect the flag and country which provides this privilege, regardless of personal belief. This country is as much mine as it is yours.

First, Why should politics be kept out of schools? Don't kids need to learn those things and be exposed to them so that they can learn how to react to it later in life? I mean, I read Upton St. John's "The Jungle" in school and I didn't turn into a raging socialist. In fact, it made me learn to be very wary of propaganda in the things I read and in the things I heard.

Second, I don't really think this is political. It's more like an overly patriotic teacher. And, as I said, I think it's dumb and the class time could be better spent on other things, but I don't get the "outrage" over this.

Third, how do we know that this is not a private school?

these kids look to be in what, pre-k??

they sing songs and color pictures

B. Bernice Young Elementary School is located in Burlington, NJ and is one of 2 elementary schools in Burlington Township. It is a public school that serves 1036 students in grades PK, K-2.

I'd probably be a bit peeved at this in my kids school, but lets face it the kids are going to have to be brainwashed at some point. Might as well start in school with a nice liberal teacher.

I mean, it isn't like a parent can spend time talking with their kids so that they know that not everything they see or hear from someone is 100% true and accurate. There is no way that this could possibly be a moment for me as a father to teach my child that politics exist and people are allowed to make their own choices about how they want to form their own political views.

We all know that the only way to raise a child is to let the schools lead them completely without question. It really sucks being so constrained by the man.

So, should the Pledge be banned from classrooms since it brings religion into the classroom? It certainly seems to be as much or more brainwashing as this.

According to the person who posted the video, it was filmed at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, NJ.

I'm not going to defend it nor am I going to condemn it. Ideally, school is no place for politics or religion, but it's just no big deal. Looks like like Rush/Hannity/Beck have been inciting the masses again.

Just another anti-Obama Post-Of-The-Day. I've come to expect them.
