SCOUTING REPORT: New Orleans Saints (2-0) at Buffalo Bills (1-1), Sunday, 3:05 p.m.
By Bob Fortus, The Times-Picayune
September 22, 2009, 10:32PM

The Bills, who haven't had a winning record since 2004, appear to be making progress under Dick Jauron, who is in his third season as coach. They began the season with two solid performances.

Opening at New England, Buffalo appeared to have control until the Patriots struck for two late touchdowns to win 25-24. At home Sunday, the Bills relied on a balanced attack and a blitzing defense to defeat Tampa Bay 33-20.

The Saints won't have to worry about running back Marshawn Lynch, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards the past two seasons. He is suspended for misbehaving off the field during the offseason and won't be eligible to play until Week 4. Running back Fred Jackson has helped fill the void, both as a rusher and receiver.

Six-time Pro Bowl receiver Terrell Owens, the Bills' key free-agent signee, immediately became the center of attention. A key to the Bills' success and chemistry will be keeping Owens happy -- which, as his three previous teams found out, isn't easy. His happiness usually is a function of the number of passes thrown his way.

He hasn't had a major blow-up this season, but it's early.

HAHA! Can you say understatement?

The Bills are a solid club. But I am not really scared of Dick Jauron outcoaching Sean Payton. If we catch a lot of breaks like we did against the Eagles, the game will certainly get ugly. But if both teams are playing solid football, the Bills will be right there with us the whole game.

I just don't see where Buffalo matches up in their favor against us.

-Starting RT, starting MLB, and starting TE all out
-3 good WRs against 3 good CBs with a FS who is on fire
-Our OL is blocking very well vs. a DL that is doing well but not great
-Our QB against anyone right now is a mismatch
-Neither offense the Bills have played is as good as ours this season
-Bills only have 2 quality CBs vs. our stable of good WRs

The only way I see Buffalo winning is if we completely implode (like 3 turnovers before halftime, dropped passes, missed tackles, blown assignments galore). Otherwise, we win by at least 2 TDs.

More Saints people working based on inaccurate information. God this is getting old. The very first sentence is incorrect.

:jpshakehead:

I can't even get past the first sentence without finding errors. Jauron is in his 4th year here, not 3rd.

OK... but after that its all statistical facts rather than opinionated. A mistake on the # of years the guy coached makes the entire article garbage?.

That changes everything.

Exactly...
