Sean "Diddy" Combs houses were raided by Feds (2 Viewers)

Co-worker just told me a story of when her kids played youth hockey, that a coach restricted parents from the locker at all times. She told her husband that this is not common and her husband as a man should be allowed in that locker at times as times past with other teams. She was not comfortable and had her son placed on a different team, fast forward a couple of months later, the coach was caught molesting two of the players.
I have a lot more questions about this situation, but this may not be the thread to pose them.

I think you would need to get to know your coach and children. My wife and I coached the girls basketball team one year and parents were ridiculous. Me or my wife trying to talk and the parents kept chiming in. Personally it was a huge distraction.
Sure, I coached (along with another parent) a girl's volleyball team, my daughter was on the team. I would not start a practice without at least 1 other parent there. And parents were always welcome to sit in during team meetings and practices. Always, always have a "team" meeting directly with parents before the first practice starts and explain the rules and boundaries. If the parents can't control themselves or let me coach as I see fit in terms of who plays, what position etc...they can request to move their kids to another team.

Never had a parent issue after that. And they appreciated that I communicated my expectations not only with their kids, but also with the parents.

When my son was growing up (like pre-high school years), I never dropped him off and left him at practices or games (karate then soccer). A parent or grandparent was always present. Once he got into playing high school basketball, he was old enough to advocate for himself and knew better and was still being picked up/dropped off by his parents or grandma until he could drive himself or had teammates that were driving to drop him off.

My sons played HS soccer in Montgomery County MD. The HS's had a rule for student athletes, they were not allowed to drive to and from a game.....I thought it was a really good rule, games could be so emotional the last thing you want is a po-ed 16-18 year old driving after a tough loss....plus often they are emotionally/physically drained after games.....

Yup, having coached and managed youth soccer parents can be great, they can also be the biggest problem with a team.....I completely understand the notion of not leaving your kids unsupervised with coaches but we always had the trust of our parents, and in travel sports often there were only a few that came to some of the games/tournaments as chaperones if you will. We always had the boys room together with the captains in charge of helping ensure no trouble.....mostly worked out really well....

"Where else would a pedophile be?"

Sad that we have to process and interact this way, but it’s reality.

all of my kids, no locker rooms or team meetings out of sight
Things I wish I'd known as a kid...

FACT: Family and acquaintance child sexual abuse perpetrators have reported that they look for specific characteristics in the children they choose to abuse.

  • Perpetrators frequently seek out children who are particularly trusting (Conte et al., 1987) and work proactively to establish a trusting relationship before abusing them (Budin & Johnson, 1989; Conte, Wolfe, & Smith, 1989; Elliott et al., 1995; Warner-Kearney, 1987). Not infrequently, this extends to establishing a trusting relationship with the victim’s family as well (Elliott et al., 1995).
  • Most sexual abuse of children occurs in a residence, typically that of the victim or perpetrator. 84% of sexual victimization of children under age 12 occurs in a residence. Even older children are most likely to be assaulted in a residence. 71% of sexual assaults on children age 12-17 occur in a residence (Snyder, 2000).

At first pass, this made sense to me because having other parents around could mean putting the kids at risk for being messed with by other parents but then you also have the coach, too. Ugh.

i remember 19 years ago when my wife and I were lookng at Daycares, one we visited told us that parents weren't allowed to come to the daycare without calling first with the exception of the designated drop off times and pickup times. That if we needed to pick her up early of drop her off late, we had to call first and if we wanted to stop by at anytime, we had to call first, that we weren't allowed to just show up. That didn't sit right with us. i was like, thats a big fat NO.
None of the other daycares we visited had any kind of rule like that.. it was just wierd. Eventually we found one we really loves. as a matter of fact, my daughter is 19 and is in college and works at that same daycare while going to school.

Def. thought of that, too.

And on a related note... video from Combs assaulting his now ex-girlfriend has emerged. It is graphic, but corroborates her lawsuit against him that was settled.

Dude should be in jail already.
I know the video mentions that she sued him and it was settled the next day but did she file a police report? Did the police even have this video?

And can they act now even if she didn't file one?

They're definitely questioning why the hotel group didn't report as they had the video. Apparently, the Cassie lawsuit said Combs paid someone at the hotel to not release the tape.

Definitely a lot of unanswered questions...

Statute of limitations likely ran out.

I read her 30-something page lawsuit when all this came out and my heart sunk. Nobody could make up the level of detail that she went into about what all she endured.

He is really a scumbag. And he has 4 daughters…

Unbelievable (yet believable) that the hotel was ‘paid off’ to keep this a secret. Disgusting for any and everyone who enabled this sicko to abuse her (and likely all the others that have come forward) for so long either by helping him directly or by staying quiet and keeping his secrets. Dirt bags.

Money enables a lot of dirtbags unfortunately. This whole thing is terrible. I wish someone would fork his arse up.

Just feel terrible for his 4 daughters and the woman he abused.

Did the police ask if there was video during the investigation? And if they did and were told no, shouldn't someone be charged with tampering or obstruction?
