New Orleans Saints rookie first-round draft pick Sheldon Rankins, out since breaking his leg during training camp, is expected to return to practice next week, coach Sean Payton said Friday.

Rankins was placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery Aug. 16 to repair a broken fibula. The placing of Rankins on injured reserve did not end his season.

Better not be foolin'....

Well that's great news need the big man in the rotation .

Rankins, Fairley, Onyemata are going to be the Catalyst for that D. When you have to Pinch the Guards/Center to account for interior rush it leaves a lot of 1 on 1's on the outside and Jordan can man handle any T. Pressure up the gut forces QB's to maybe pull the ball down due to passing lanes being disrupted and this could give him an extra second or two to get to the QB which is typically what he needs on any given day since he's not an elite edge guy.

This along with improving coverage and getting Breaux back will allow the D to take the next step in a few weeks.

Could get interesting. We are already top 10 in the league in Redzone Defense and 3rd down D if I'm not mistaken. Latter could be wrong but I'm pretty sure about the Redzone D as we are only allowing 56% of conversions in that area.

Were bending a lot but not breaking as much. Cutting down on the big plays and getting some guys back healthy is going to be lovely.

Its happening
