Five days of Saints training camp down and many more to go before the start of the regular season.
But is five days of camp practices — or any amount for that matter — enough to get a full grasp on where the Saints stand before the first preseason game, which isn’t for another 10 days?
Not so fast.
Coach Sean Payton has said in the past that he truly doesn’t know what kind of team he has until after the first quarter of the regular season, which represents a firm milestone.
So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Payton doesn’t have a timeframe in mind during training camp to know what he has as a team before the start of regular season. ...
