Dont get your hopes up. Unless Aso is signing for about 1 million year, it isnt happening.
You never know. He had a few down years so it could be a cheap 1 yr deal for the chance to work with his boy Ryan and get a ring.

I think he would have said something by now. He's talking about Ben Watson and Mark Ingram.

It may just be that it isn't a done deal so he isn't going to talk about it. The report was "in principle" so that's not a done deal enough that a coach would announce it.

Recap (Done):

- Ben Watson gives us a "great in-line blocker" and a guy who "can still get down the seam." Payton thinks he will be a really good addition, and he wants to get more TEs on the field and less "eligible tackles."

- Likes Ingram a lot. Wants to use him more with consecutive carries. He said maybe 2-3 carries in a row, or use him for a whole series. Also likes Ivory, PT, and Sproles, who brings a different skill set. Said the challenge is the depth at the position, but he wants to commit to the run more.

- Looking for pass rushers like everyone else. Looking in both FA and draft, but they are paying attention to the "economics of available FA pass rushers." Said they might wait a bit and let the market settle, must be patient.

- Very interested in Nnamdi. Had a real good visit, and he would say the same. Very unique player, elite player. Finding right fit is important for him, and SP thinks we are a great fit.

- Rob Ryan - Passionate, loyal, heard great things from people. Optimistic, looks forward to challenges.

- Cap Numbers and Brees - Uncharted territory in terms of $ numbers escalating. With the salary cap, it makes you make tough decisions like Jermon Bushrod. Mentioned not being able to sign Kruger. Wants to be competitive each season, but wants staying power too.

- On gay players - Football is viewed as a macho sport, so gay people may not feel comfortable coming out. At the combine, they spend 10 of the 15 minutes on football trying to measure football I.Q., but each team does it differently.

- There is a 2-week period of FA where everyone wants the big names, but some times the best decisions are the guys that you don't sign. Big names don't always equate to success on the field.

That's about it!

You could be right, but in all reality, from roughly $14 million a year for many years down to $1 million a year just isn't realistic.

if there was some sort of agreement i think it would have slipped out via a tweet that seems to be the new media format used by the players
