Sean Payton open to changing Saints offense (1 Viewer)

Last season, the New Orleans Saints had one of the NFL’s best offenses.

Ranking eighth overall, they were one of only eight teams to surpass 6,000 total yards, scored 31.5 points per game, the league’s third most, and accounted for 504 total points, also the third most.

The key to their continued success on offense is being open to change.

Saints head coach Sean Payton says that the team sticks to the basics and build on past success, but will also use their offseason training regimen to introduce new concepts, formations, and play calls.

“There will be variations we try,” Payton said at a recent OTA practice.

“There will be some offseason projects, not just offensively. Defensively, we’ll look at how you might tweak some things in the gun and do a few things maybe you didn’t a year ago. There are some core principles to what we’re doing offensively that we believe in.”
