I was just listening to the coaches show and Sean Payton summed up Sunday's loss perfectly. It was funny as all get out to boot.

Someone e-mailed a question about the fan support and Payton said basically that the fans were unbelievable and that they were a big part of many of the wins this season. He went on to say that they felt so bad about playing so poorly in front of the home fans knowing that the fans were looking for a win to celebrate winning the division.

He then said......

"IT WAS LIKE HAVING A BIG PARTY, AND SOMEONE FORGOT TO BRING THE KEG."

LOL! I love it. The funny thing about it is that when I sit back, that's exactly how I felt. It's not so much that they lost (since things worked out for us) but it was that I was so looking forward to winning, going to 10-4, keeping the positive vibe going and partying after the game. Surely had they won, they would have stayed on the field, they would have announced the NFC South Championship and we could have all had a good ol' time.

If this was indeed the plan for the game afterwards, then we overlooked an opponent! They should've kept this from the players. Then if we were in control of the game with about 6:00 left, they could've told the PA announcer to ask all of the fans to stay until the game was over for a ceremony. I guarrantee most if not al of the people would've stayed put.

why say anything at all if you are a true fan you would stay untill the players left and as soon as the game was over they could have played we are the champions and the true fans would have gotten a true supprise

For a kegger? Hell yeah.

That was one of things I missed, everyone getting to don their NFC South champion hats at the end of the game. Let's take care of business Sunday and move forward.

it would have been funny if the players doused him in gatorade when the Panthers game ended. oh wait, that would have sucked.

If it was the plan, be certain the players were not aware of it.
In a way, this loss is better than that celebration. Why? Because you don't hold the victory party until the war is over. I think (Ok, I hope) this game served as a wake up call to the entire roster that they have to have their game face and attitude EVERY week or they will go nowhere. I'm looking for a monster rebound game next week and a lot of focus through the playoffs because of this lackluster performance.
As a performer, I know sometimes a bad night can make me return to outdo anything I'd have done without that bad night. That anger kicks in the adrenaline like nothing else. Human nature, I suppose.

I feel bad that we lost, but I'm glad the players are upset about it and didn't celebrate the division title. It shows me that they definately have bigger goals in mind.

If the players were able to watch a TV, listen to a radio, or log on to the internet THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PARTY. Thats what you get for counting your chickens before the eggs hatch. It was announced publiclly days before the game was played...big mistake.

.

That's Coach Payton for ya ! He can make us feel good even after an embarrassing loss like Sunday's. Man he rules !

Where do you people come up with this stuff? LOL! I mean seriously, he was kidding about the feeling everyone had, not talking about an actual party. He wasn't saying that there was going to be a party after the game. He was saying that he knew the fans wanted to celebrate the division championship but felt that they couldn't because the team let them down by not winning the game. He was expressing his feelings towards the loss (i.e. the party = the fans being excited). He was not referring to an actual party. I don't know if they actually had one planned or not.

I stayed about 5 minutes after the game just to see but I knew they wouldn't since they lost.

No kidding. Sometimes I just have to scratch my head. :dunno:
