Seattle wins tonite, Saints are #1 seed going into Niners game. (1 Viewer)

Congrats y'all we get to be the #1 seed next week.. we were already playing at home anyways. Now if Seattle wins out we have to win out to get the #1 seed. If Seattle would have lost tonight then we could afford to lose 1 game provided we beat the 49ers because Seattle could hand San Fran another loss later this season.

The playoffs have essentially started already so I dont know why folks feel like at some point we’ll have an opportunity to let up and rest guys.

They have to keep winning regardless of who won tonight. This isn’t one of those years where two teams are better than the rest. They need as much incentive as possible to play up to their potential and cut out the self inflicted wounds because if not they won’t be around long in the playoffs anyway.

If we win our next three, there would be no doubt Payton would rest guys going into the Week 17 game. He's shown you countless times it's what he does...once when we were on a two game losing streak no less! There's no reason to believe he wouldn't now.

No in a week. It is too early to know if the Seattle win helps or hurts us in the long run so I don't care which way it goes tonight. I very much care who has it after this week because beating the 49ers can only help and losing to them can only hurt.
Seattles win let us control our destiny. We own the head to head which is the first tie breaker. We don't play MN.or GB in the regular
season. That allows some weird tiebreakers to come into play. All we have to do is win and it doesnt matter what any other NFC team
does.

That’s assuming we win all three, we're not in a position to do that with the NFC this tight. That year it was us and the Vikings way out in front and the only reason he rested players was because we were locked in despite losing the last three. Whenever we get locked in he’ll rest guys but not until then.

Well now that we have the comfortable lead, do you still think we will play as hard Sunday? Maybe we could rest a few guys.
Nope. The Saints are 6-1 at home and 1-5 on the road in the playoffs. And the one loss at home was stolen by the refs. The team needs to play everyone who is healthy until the #1 seed is secure.

The key game is really next week vs. the Whiners.

Win that and the path to the #1 seed is clear sailing if the Saints hold serve.

Lose that, and the Saints' fate seeding-wise is in the hands of the NFCW. Seattle and the Whiners would control the NFC seeding for a first round bye.
