Semi-Conservative Investing Opportunities (1 Viewer)

I'm looking to invest some money rather than have it sit in my saving account and earn next to nothing. I'm not looking to take a big risk here, and I understand that means I'm not going to receive a very high reward. It's not a lot of money (less than $2000), but are there any real opportunities out there? Stock market (I'm uninformed, therefore probably risky), CD (is it even worth it?), or do I just not have enough to make any logical investment?

Any ideas?

Since you seem to be uneducated on the topic, start by investing in a couple of books.

I'm about to sign up on e-trade just to buy some stocks and play around with them.
I'm looking for suggestions on which ones to buy. I haven't done much research yet but have kept my eye on Apple and Verizon which seem to be growing every day.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
