Semper's Stupendous to Infinity and Beyond Everything Marvel Movie/TV Thread (2 Viewers)

Wife and I just left the theater. I agree with Dave - first half builds and second half kills.

I enjoyed it and looking forward to what’s next.

I actually am going to correct myself. I said the movie doesn’t take itself to seriously but that not exactly right. The comedy plays well when they group banters but the movie does tackle some pretty heavy subjects. It was a good balance.

And I agree, Pugh is a star. I actually got a bit choked up for a second during her Red Guardian interaction. Must be a parent thing thinking about your kid suffering.

I gotta say, with Daredevil and Thunderbolts turning things up several notches, I'm back to feeling pretty good with the work Feige is doing with Marvel. I never gave up on it, but since Endgame, while I wouldn't say it was bad, Marvel felt like they were spinning their wheels and not really advancing the story in the same way. And quality suffered while trying to get out a lot more streaming content.

It really feels like they've turned a corner and recaptured some of the magic. I hope it's sustainable. I'm all in on FF in July. The trailer before the movie today looked great and the post credit segment had me pumped.

I lol'd at the mid credits when
Red Guardian said "that's me on the bax"
I enjoyed a lot of his slap stick humor. Some might say it was too much, but that's the point with him.

Pugh was fantastic. A star indeed. I'm definitely gonna rewatch when it hits streaming. It was well worth the price of admission today.

I agree with this take.. the best Marvel movies mix humor with actual heart, and this movie came really close to perfecting that balance. And it was such a great choice to make Florence Pugh the heart of this movie, she is definitely a star, and provided the emotional core of the movie. It would have been easy and lazy to make Bucky the center, but it would have been a huge mistake, and I'm thrilled with the choices they made.

it reminds me a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy. Just a different kind of funny banter.

Lol, Bob in this movie also was Bob in Top Gun: Maverick...

I can see it now, future conversations b/w his agent and casting directors will go like this for future roles:
"We need someone to play the role of Bob."
"I know a guy."

Marvel Studios’ marquee team of heroes need a bit more time to reassemble.

Avengers: Doomsday is pushing back its release date in theaters from May 1, 2026, to Dec. 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will now open on Dec. 17, 2027 instead of May 7, 2027.

Disney, however, isn’t giving up the coveted start-of-summer-slot in 2026 and has set 20th Century’s The Devil Wears Prada 2 to take Doomsday‘s date and open on May 1.

During a nearly five-and-a-half hour livestream in late March, Marvel Studios began unveiling its cast for Avengers: Doomsday, revealing a mix of Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstays as well as actors from 20th Century Fox’s now-defunct X-Men universe and upcoming stars of Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Notable names missing from the roll call included Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America), the latter of whom is expected to appear at least one of the two-part movies.…

This isn't shocking at all. They were never going to hit that May 2026 release date. They just started filming the thing this past month. There was no way they were going to film this and get post-production done in time to release in a year.
