Three regular-season games remain on the schedule to make or break dreams.
The New Orleans Saints (5-8) sit three games behind the pace in the NFC South, but are mathematically alive in the hunt for the playoffs despite a dismal season, which includes four defeats in the past five games.
A loss Sunday, however, against the Arizona Cardinal (5-7-1) at the University of Phoenix Stadium dampens the Saints' postseason aspirations and set the table for a period of reflection on what could have been has arrived.
"Us as players, even though the season hasn't gone the way we envisioned and hoped for, we still have a lot of pride," defensive end Darryl Tapp said.
The Saints are still hopeful for the playoffs, of course, especially when considering the team will close out the season within the NFC South against division co-leaders Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-5) in Week 16 and Atlanta Falcons (8-5) in Week 17.
