The New Orleans Saints appear to have dodged a bullet with Sheldon Rankins.

The rookie defensive tackle fractured his fibula during a goal-line drill at practice on Monday, but the injury is not as serious as originally thought, Saints coach Sean Payton said Wednesday

"We're fortunate that it wasn't more significant," Payton said after the Saints conducted a light practice on Wednesday at the team's Greenbrier training complex. "...Clearly, it's not going to be season-ending at all."
