Here's a second opinion on how some of the Senior Bowl players fared last week and what NFL scouts may have learned about them, according to Adam Caplan, senior NFL reporter for Scout.com, as told to Press-Register sports reporter Neal McCready:
On the rise-- Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC: He's top 10, maybe top 5 after this week. He's the best DT I've seen in my eight years of covering the Senior Bowl.
-- Matt Forte, RB, Tulane: He was terrific. He was a surprise. He's a big back, like Eddie George, who's a downhill runner. He really helped himself.
--The sliders-- Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii: He had a stomach illness this week and came in light. However, his arm strength is a major question mark now. He can't make all the throws.
-- André Woodson, QB, Kentucky: He struggled with his accuracy big-time. He was a real disappointment.

controversial items handled, included an appeal by Shreveport’s Calvary Baptist and the application for membership by a new football officials association forming in the River Parishes.

The River Parish Football Officials Association’s appeal to be accepted for 2008 was rejected because the LHSAA handbook states nine football officials associations shall be used, saying its by-laws must be amended by a member school. The addition of the river group would have given the LHSAA 10 associations. East Ascension, St. Amant and Dutchtown were area high schools set to join the new group, along with Lutcher.
