I guess if there are a handful of games you really want to play again and aren't interested in unlimited modding, it's worth it

A few points:

- The NES classics were pretty hard to get your hands on, so there's undoubtedly some folks who didn't get one that would jump on the SNES version
- It looks like the internal hardware of the SNES classic is all the same as the NES classic, so it should be moddable in the same way
- I modded my NES classic, but I didn't put any non-NES games on it. I think by keeping only NES games on it, it keeps its nostalgia factor higher since it's a little easier to suspend disbelief that I'm actually playing an NES.

Wal-Mart had preorders last night. Already gone for now. I got one last night.

Yeah I got in on the Walmart pre-order too, hopefully it doesn't get cancelled

Nintendo announced that pre-orders will go live late this month.

So the system will have all of those games on it already?
Yeah it comes pre-loaded with those 21 games, but there's no official way to add more. However, it is likely that you'll be able to (illegally?) mod the system to add whatever games you want.

I guess best buy had something up in the wee hours, but gone.

And amazon had some up, but they created a new page, so no one with alerts got an alert.

Shady crap so far.

I felt like I went on a quest for this crap.

Pre-ordered on Target.. final checkout.. poof, out of stock.

co-worker heard gamestop had them in store for like 10 people. He got one, told me to hurry, because no one was there. I left for 5 min, already too many people in line.

Out of boredom, kept trying Target, with the error of "out of stock".. then poof, one added to cart. Hurried through transaction, boom ordered.

Seriously, they make this unfun. It shouldn't be that hard to secure a preorder.

You got one?! Lucky... for both Walmart and Target I had pre-orders in my cart, but they sold out before I could finish checking out. I went to stand in line at Gamestop, but the bundles were all sold out when there were 2 people left in front of me.

All in all, very painful experience. Just hope I can get my hands on one without paying some outrageous amount.

That was my day, except I tried Target again later and by chance.. some new stock came online.

I don't think they released all of their pre-orders at that exact opening second.

I would like to thank Nintendo again. It was their original announcement of this system and this inevitable result that convinced me to make my leap that turned out to be the best 45 bucks (maybe a few more, I got a couple of controllers) I ever spent in gaming
