SNF: Vikings vs Broncos (1 Viewer)

If they win, they'll have the same record as our poorly-coached team.
but Sean Payton did not inherit a winning team with the Broncos, as Allen did with the Saints.

Consider this: If you had $10M, and you had to bet it on Allen coaching the Broncos roster vs. Payton coaching the Saints roster 7 days from now, which would you bet on?

If Allen has a better OC in Denver than PC, the record would be about the same. Payton was 1-5 with the Broncos roster not that long ago.

Payton’s making the most out of the Broncos roster with his coaching in the win streak but he’s not dominating. Broncos are barely scraping by in Ws and getting a lot of lucky bounces.

Its only so long that luck lasts as he faces LC x2, Cleveland, and Houston going forward. I’ll be surprised if they finish better than 8-9.

If coaching means effort and playing full speed thru 4 quarters then I agree
Coaching means getting the best out of their players. So yes, effort and playing full speed falls into getting the best out of them.

Check in on this statement at the end of the season, and see how that works out. The Broncos are on a 4-game winning streak, including against actual good teams with winning records. After an initial adjustment period with a new coaching staff, they're undoubtedly finding their groove with a proven coach with skins on the wall.
The Saints however, with the easiest freakin' schedule in the NFL, are barely staying above water against the worst the NFL has to offer, with a coach whose career record is below .500.

No you tell me, which team is trending upward? Which of these teams would you want to hitch your wagon to for the rest of the year?

Yes, he was, but now he isn't, and has won 4 games on a row, 3 on a row against teams with winning records, something the Saints have not been able to do so far this season.

Exactly.

Well, he's beating good teams with winning records; those are hard to dominate.

The old “getting lucky” excuse. The man is keeping the games close and finding a way to win the close game with an inferior roster compared to the competition. This is why he was able to win so many games with a good roster while beating the refs on top of it.

If it was Allen winning 4 close games in a row, most of the board would say he’s getting by on luck or its mostly because of the players. Saints and Broncos talent is even.

3 of 4 Wins of 3 points or less is luck in a general sense no matter who it is. It’s lucky bounces when you get a game winning rekick off of 12 on the field after a missed kick.

Payton has a .500 team via 3 last sec-go ahead poss Ws of last 4 after being a .166 team a few weeks ago. Same current record as ours. He doesn’t have an easy road ahead just in the next 4 games. This is just recency bias every time another team/coach with Saints ties wins after the Saints lose a game.

Denver has already played KC twice, and split the series 1-1.

Yep I had them mistaken with LAC who they haven’t faced yet. LC needs Ws really bad for Staley’s sake. That’ll probably be another split.

Denver also faces Cleveland (best NFL defense), at Houston (arguably best AFC QB) and at Detroit (2nd best NFC team) within the next 4. They will be really tough for both Wilson and their defense.

Luck is an unreliable tool. Four straight wins suggests skill, not luck. Sean Payton has had many winning streaks in his career with many different QB’s.

DA will probably never win four in a row because he lacks the skill to do it.
