SNF: Vikings vs Broncos (1 Viewer)

I want to place a bet that the Broncos will lose their next 2 games. I’ve seen this mid season recover thing by Payton a bunch.

2007: Started 0-4, then won 4 in a row to get to 0.500. Then lost 3 straight.

2014: Started 2-4, then won 2 straight to get to 0.500. Then lost 3 straight.

2015: Started 1-4, then won 3 straight to get to 0.500. Then lost 4 straight.

2016: Started 2-4, then won 2 straight to get to 0.500. Then lost 2 straight.

2023: Started 1-5, then won 4 straight to get to 0.500. Then….

Check in on this statement at the end of the season, and see how that works out. The Broncos are on a 4-game winning streak, including against actual good teams with winning records. After an initial adjustment period with a new coaching staff, they're undoubtedly finding their groove with a proven coach with skins on the wall.
The Saints however, with the easiest freakin' schedule in the NFL, are barely staying above water against the worst the NFL has to offer, with a coach whose career record is below .500.

No you tell me, which team is trending upward? Which of these teams would you want to hitch your wagon to for the rest of the year?
My point is not that DA is a good coach, nor is it that the Broncos aren't trending upward. My point is just that the Saints and Broncos are in the same position after 10 games. We play only one team with a winning record (at this point) the rest of the season so it stands to reason that the Saints will actually be in a better position than the Broncos at the end of the season. We have a shot to win the division, do the Broncos? There stuff to look forward to is all I'm saying.

Facts well taken.
Since we now have such a easy path to win the division and the #4 Seed in the playoffs, it's going to inflame the masses that much more if we fall short of those two goals.
The Saints (ie, DA and his coaching staff) have absolutely no excuse to miss out on a division title and a playoff spot. Do the Saints deserve either of those things? Not at all. But neither does any other team in our division. The entire NFC South is a train wreck that someone has to win. Even though we will crash & burn in the playoffs, it still goes in the records as winning the NFC South crown.

However, that may be just the achievement needed for DA to stay on board for another 2 or 3 years. :covri:
Most folks won't be happy with that byproduct of such 'success'.

so let me get this straight, Sean Payton was the Saints coach and they let him leave the organization and couldn't convince him to stay? I would have offered him 10 percent ownership. HE MADE THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS!! OBVIOUSLY I'M ALSO SO FRUSTRATED!!
Why do people want to force someone that's mentally checked out to stay? It wouldn't have worked out, he wanted out. Things happen.

Okay, now here's 2017 where we started 0-2. Then, we were 8-2.

Jesus, why does he sound like an AI took over his body and is learning how to pass as human?
Was some kind of experiment the first week or two on Monday Night Football that year when they had 2 games. They used ESPN Deportes reporters I believe. Kid was so excited and nervous. It was all about diversity and was a big fail. Felt bad for Sergio. He obviously wasn’t the best candidate for the job.

Well, Payton managed to go from 2-5 to 5-5 with 3 straight wins vs teams with winning records.

We dont have a single win vs a team with a winning record.

Youll never convince me that the Broncos have close to the top to bottom talent we do and they dont play our joke of a schedule. They are in a complete overhaul while Payton rebuilds that franchise.

He is doing what good coaches do, finding ways to win instead of what our HC does in finding ways to lose. Losers lose.

Loomis had a chance to move the franchise in a new direction, and hired Allen. He had a chance to fire Allen once he proved the Raiders record was the truth by starting 4-9 last season, and didnt. He could fire up this team by firing Allen after blowing this softer than pudding schedule, and wont.

Loomis is tied to Allen now. Its time for both to roll out.

I wonder if we could get a response like the Raiders have seen with Pierce if we fired Allen and promoted Curry?

I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see the alternate universe where it does. The defense ain't lights out and we're a mess.. seriously, what do we really have to lose? DA hasn't led us to a division lead, he's backed us into it.
When they showed that nfc graphic, with a 6-3 Dallas and Minn. And were leading the division with our 5-5. It def didn’t feel like we belonged. Dallas is for real. And Minn handled us. ML is right, the next 7 games will reveal our character as a team, alright. And beating ATL won’t prove anything. We need to win out to put a little fear In whoever we’d play in the playoffs

If it was Allen winning 4 close games in a row, most of the board would say he’s getting by on luck or its mostly because of the players. Saints and Broncos talent is even.

3 of 4 Wins of 3 points or less is luck in a general sense no matter who it is. It’s lucky bounces when you get a game winning rekick off of 12 on the field after a missed kick.

Payton has a .500 team via 3 last sec-go ahead poss Ws of last 4 after being a .166 team a few weeks ago. Same current record as ours. He doesn’t have an easy road ahead just in the next 4 games. This is just recency bias every time another team/coach with Saints ties wins after the Saints lose a game.
yes it’s like this after the Saints lose. The world ends and everyone needs to be fired. We need to win out and show we belong. Because every team has gotten better by now. Denver had an elite defense to begin this year, talent wise. And their offense is a dink and dunk machine. Their defense shut down the Alien version of Will Smith. Denver winning regardless of how they get them builds momentum and confidence. So there’s that too

Denver has defeated the best the afc has to offer. KC and Buffalo. We have beat the Titans, Patriots, and Panthers.
To be fair, which is becoming tough these days, but it’s not the Saints fault that we haven’t played great teams. And to assume we’d lose is also reflective of a fans attitude and not reality. Who thought that we’d beat the Eagles last year. Even without their QB they were miles better than us, in fans’ opinion. And who was really scared of Jalen Hurts anyway?

Which is a good thing, since Saints have played 3 teams that currently have winning records, and they lost all 3 games.

Given the Saints record against teams with winning records since the beginning of the 2022 season (1-11), and that the one win was against a team with a backup QB who gave the game away (tell me the Saints beat the Eagles with Hurts playing) I'd say assuming that the Saints will lose against a team with a winning record is based in reality much more than "on any given Sunday", given that the latter defines an upset win.

In fact, the Saints beat the Titans by 1, and the Panthers by 3. So the Saints got lucky then. If not for luck, they'd be 3-7.

And the Packers got lucky too, since they beat the Saints by 1 point. That was some luck, coming back from 17 points down.

It's not recent bias. We all have seen the drop off since the 2022 season. We all know DA's HC record.
