Yeah, one of the many what ifs of 2018 for me is what if Davenport hadn't sustained that toe injury. He was really starting to play like a beast when it happened vs. MIN and then he missed time and wasn't the same when he came back, either. Would've loved to play that NFCCG with a healthy Davenport and Rankins. He has been for real just got a lot of hate. His problem is injuries.
What are you talking about. He came out in year one playing great. Whenever he actually played, he played great. it wasn't his lack of development that has held him back, it was injuries. The biggest concern with Davenport was (and still is) that we paid a high price for a guy with massive potential but was going to need significant time to develop into an elite NFL talent.
If we cannot afford to extend him after 2023 because of the huge salaries bona-fide pass rushers command, then we will have effectively groomed him for another team with cap space to jump in and reap all the benefits when he finally hits his peak!
That's not good business. Let's hope it's us and not another team that gets the best from him!
No one is saying he is a bad player, and you cannot blame the player for the price paid for him. What are you talking about. He came out in year one playing great. Whenever he actually played, he played great. it wasn't his lack of development that has held him back, it was injuries.
