So much for that "Surge" (1 Viewer)

I have never understood what this means. Do you support the saints players but not want them to win the game. All I can do is chuckle. The men and woman of the military, at least the ones I know, consider this comment EXTREMELY offensive.

So me not supporting the war means I want the US to lose the war? I want the US to be successful while we're there but imo we should not be there in the first place.

Since you oppose the war, your nothing more than a one of those silly liberales who are anti-military and hate the troops. Get with the program, man. :9:

I guess I'll translate for you. What it means is that there are people who support our soldiers and want them to kill their enemy before the enemy can kill them. They don't want another single U.S. soldier killed.

And at the same time, they want all of our U.S. troops to come home so they won't get killed in a war that was a dumb idea to begin with and can't achieve the Bush Administrations later constructed objective.

That seems to be the way it is. Either you're a supporter of the war or you're one of those people trying to keep the military out of Berkeley.

Only communists, socialists, liberales, and Democrats see nuance--obviously you're another commie lib who needs to get with the program. :9:

onepeat this makes my point about rummy. people like this think that war is not brutal and has casualties. I think the fault of the administrations was not leading a more positive campaign about the triumphs in Iraq. philosophies of this nature keep us from finishing our mission.

All this administration has tried to do is put a pretty bow on the situation in Iraq. The problem is that the facts won't allow it.

It started out being about WMD's, then it became about getting rid of Saddam, then it became about brining Democracy to the Iraqis, then it became about fighting terrorists/A.Q. in Iraq and "fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here", then it became about bringing Democracy to the Middle East, then it became ????? You can't have a success story if you have never been clear in your goals to begin with.

Or support Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Kerry, etc. who think America's military just consists of a bunch of lawless thugs, who along with the liberal media are conspiring to undermine the administration and the moral work which they are doing. Only by continuing to support the war are you a Patriotic, Real American [tm] :9:

My black and white question to you sir is quite simple.

Who exactly are we being protected from?

The last time I checked we blew Iraq's military to shred's in a couple days, they wouldn't even fly their airforce against us because it would have been suicidal. The army was either throwing white flags up and surrendering or just going home in just hours. Their navy, did Iraq even have a Navy? Was Iraq gathering significant arms and a mobilizing force ready to travel around the globe to attack us? We managed to put an end to the greatest military in the world by building a greater military and never firing a shot. We avoided nuclear holocaust while rallying as a country around a cause.

So again, who exactly are we being protected from?

The only plausable answer that can come to me is if you are part of big oil and by saying "we" you are implying the rest of us are in big oil or military contracts. This war is bankrupting our country financially, morally, politically and militarily.

Before you think I'm some "left wing commie" I want you to know I was a Bush supporter, apologist and hard standing Republican just a half year ago. I once supported the Iraq war until I decided to really try and understand the reasons of the war, none of which make any sense to 300 million Billy Joe and Mary Sues that make up the United States of America.

I will likely never vote Republican again and the other side of the aisle doesn't look any better. This two party system is dividing the greatest country in the world while bankrupting from the center (middle America) out. We our sending our jobs overseas while consuming foreign products and devaluing the greatest currency in the history of the world at the expense of the heart of our country.

To support the Bush administration is no different than burning the constitution and the basic fundamentals that our government and society was formed.

Onepeat and Razor, thanks for some of the best posts I have read in quite some time.

Where do I start.

How many attacks on American soil has there been since 911?
How many attacks on Foreign soil since 911. do you remember london and spain?
We are where the enemy is. THE MIDDLE OF THE MIDDLE EAST! we are supporting our allies, ISRAEL!

i don't believe that you really think the War is killing this country. the greatest history in our country is when EVERYONE rallied around WW2. Why did we enter that battle?

I agree with your currency argument, but not because we are cuttin the middle class out.

i don't think you want to argue tax policy, but i would love to philosophize. but let me guess you used to be for tax cuts, but now you think they are just for the rich. Please through me into that brier patch.

<--- former VP of the college republicans and worked with the GOP, Bob Livingston, and Vitter. Also an OIF vet. definitely a liberal...

I tend to think I am a true constitutional conservative that is appalled by what has transpired in the GOP and therefore distanced myself from the stupidity. Basically what I will do with this thread and your comments, distance myself...

Iraq was dumb but now we must stay in order to fix what we screwed up. If you associate 9/11 with Iraq or Iraq with protecting America, thats your fault, not mine...

Am I reading this correct, do we actually agree on something?

what happened to the nuances?

Phenomanal point by point argumentation. If you would have said this in the begining, I would have bowed to you. :smilielol:

If you would like to become a constitutional consevative, I will be happy to walk you through the steps.
