Mostly some individual observations. Lewis makes this team. He provides a quickness base skill set,,and will be primary returner. Murphy looks like a small guy that runs a 4.6. He won't make team barring Lewis getting hurt. Lasco is a upper tier athlete. He can play in this league. You can't let that kind of athletism out the building even if you gotta put him on shelf for red shirt IR. Brian Dixon will be a hard cut. Really good ST player. Tull getting soft pressures but no real impact. Peat had some rough moments. Harris the small DB from A&M really good football player but his lack of size does show up. Rankins looks quick. Davisdson looks like a good 1-tech. Grayson needs to be quicker in his reads and delivery but getting better. Mccown looked like a vet playing wth the 3's. All and all sloppy but a lot of things look correctable.

Did you watch Murphy return kicks/punts? He isn't going anywhere.

Our second string of WRs are [mod edit] and the offensive lineman need work; real bad..

I thought Murphy did well - certainly nothing that would keep him off the team. RB is going to be a tough position to cut down. Shoot the whole cut process appears as if it will be tough based on the young talent we have.

He's got some ability in space, but he is small and average speed at best. Lewis makes squad as returner and will be your last receiver. Cadet makes squad your dependable asset in the passing game/ST/pass pro. Lasco too good of a athlete. Murphy doesn't give you what he other guys do. He even muffed another kick. Lewis can be a playmaker in the return game. Murphy not good enough player on offense to make squad his year.

No complaints and all praise for Michael Thomas. He looked good. Outside the Ingram fumble, 1st O was dominant. Brees is awesome. Cooks is awesome.

1st D looks good as well. And that's without Breaux or Cam. Excited about that. Ellerbe looks great. Stupar looks like he could be a good sub. Vacarro is killing it in coverage again. And Edabali might take that WDE spot.

Spiller looks better. As does Grayson.

We don't have a lot of depth on O line. However, I did really like what I saw from Landon Turner. Hope he gets more work with 2s. Disappointed in Jack Allen though.

Edit: oh and Tommy Lee Lewis is making this team.

My Take

1. We still need a special teams coach. Very sloppy and undisciplined play
2. McCown is not very good under pressure. He also gets impatient and tries for a home run instead of playing smart
3. Michael Thomas is the real deal and could easily become our #1 receiver
4. I want to see more of Lasco. Kid looked good. When Ingram's contract is up this kid could be in line for the job.
5. WAY too many penalties
6. Starters looked good against the run
7. Laurentis looked good
8. Snead now has Snead IV on his jersey
9. 14 points were given away on bad QB play
10. The one announcer was very annoying

It's only preseason

Agree with the most part except Marcus Murphy. He is currently our #1 return specialist, so someone is going to have to beat him out. I didn't see anything from Lewis to say that he will be our return guy? What has he done? He had like one return tonight? To me it looks like Cadet is ahead of Lewis for returns. I don't see how you can say he won't make the team when he had the best play of the game lol. I think Murphy and Lasco have moved ahead of Tim Hightower on making the cut at running back if we had to get to 53 tonight. If Lasco gets down the playbook and is decent at pass protection he takes Hightower's spot with ease as of right now. I think Murphy will eventually be a damn good weapon on offense. He may take Spiller's spot when his contract is up and be that Sproles type of RB.

A lot of the offensive line holding penalties were due to the OL men getting beat. So you don't want your QB taking hits in preseason but on the other hand don't get beat. The Pats let Jimmy Garoppolo taking a beating. I'd be worried if Drew was taking a beating like that. If thats the OL the Pats are taking into the season then they have a lot to worry about. They were making our D look good and we were only rushing 4.
The ST penalties were committed by rookies and that can be cleaned up.

Murphy had a 50 yard punt return tonight, and you think he did poorly?

We've gone seasons without a 50 yard return.

What? You do know that Michael Thomas and TommyLee Lewis were our second team receivers tonight? Michael Thomas lead all receivers with 67 yards. I thought our second team receivers out shined the first team. Cooks and Coleman started at receiver, so really I guess it was Thomas & Snead at second team with Lewis & Harris as third team. I thought both Lewis & Harris were decent. Lewis was better than decent, so I don't know what game you were watching lol. And Bell was the only receiver with a TD lol.

LBs looked so much better in coverage, especially with Ellerbe feeling blessed out there!

Yes I do. He is a Return specialist in this league. He too small and slow to be efficient in this scheme offensively. You give up a roster spot for a guy that does one thing well who also still has a problem with muffs. Cadet dependable asset in the passing game/st/pass pro. Lasco a upper tier athlete oozing potential. Hightower grinder who is dependable in all phases. Spiller is spiller. Lewis can give you a play maker in the return game but also a quickess base skill set in the WR route tree. I say that from his N Illionis tape and just watching his quickness and speed and how he runs: Murphy not gonna make this team regardless of the nice return

Lasco is this year's presighting forum crush. It seems like him and Murphy are competing for a spot so Murphy will most likely be the black sheep.

Trying to stay objective and crush free, Lasco looks good, though. So it's not a bad opinion wanting to keep him and Lewis. But it's a closer race than the infatuated will make it out to be.

Positives
- Edibali (2 sacks, 3 tackles MVP)
- M. Thomas (great hands, quicker than i thought)
- Fairley (counted penetration at least twice)
- T. Lewis (caught a bullet, caught everything)
- Lasco (tough, good vision and special teams)
- M. Murphy (great p/r, good runs between tackles)
- Ellerbee (good coverage)
- 1st D-line (good vs run and pass, penetration)
- Morestead (back to form after injuries last year)

Not bad, show me more
- Crawley (solid coverage, bone head penalty)
- Grayson (made plays with feet, nice ball to Thomas)
- Rankins (showed some penetration)
- Tapp (against 2nd-3rd he was making things happen)
- Allen (started rough but got better)
- Road warrior's son (had def lined up, sure tackler)

Negatives
- Peat (could not handle Long)
- Bell (missed int plus bad angle led to TD)
- R Harris (Dropped a good ball from McCown, stopping running on TD throw)
- 2nd-3rd O-lines (Bad in run game and not much better in pass pro)
- Forbath (maybe a tad harsh but his one kick was a shocker)
