Just because a player has not restructured or been cut yet does not mean they won't be restructured or cut. The Saints' first order of business was getting under the cap. Now, they can continue to tweak the roster and cap money. For instance, I do not see Roman Harper being paid in such a way as to count 7.1 million against the cap. I can certainly see him being restructured in the days and weeks to come.

I can also see Greer and Jenkins being restructured as well.

So, the ride isn't over yet, folks. Strap yourselves in. It's going to be a bumpy flight.

Lots more restructuring will be done, including Harper and Brees, at a minimum.

I would rather not re-structure Brees this year. better to wait a year or 2 when his Paragraph 5 shoots up higher.

Also, keep in mind that the early FA signings are usually NOT worth what they get paid. These are signings by teams with a ton of cap space and need. They will overpay to make sure a player signs with them.

I agree.

Brees will not get restructured, they'll extend his contract in either 2014 or 2015 similar to the new Brady deal.

We've never been active in the first wave of free agency so what you're saying definitely holds true.

With only $27 in their pocket and some expired Wendey's frosty coupons, I don't see the Saints being big players in free agency.

I believe they will be, but for the second and third tier of players who aren't signed in the next 2 - 3 days. These will be players who understand they aren't going to get any mega-deal and will be willing to play for what their market value is, rather than what their agents tell them they are worth.

This is the reason I started this thread anyway, to get people to calm down about the signings that are and will be happening all over the league in the next 24 hours.

Once the Saints restructure a few contracts, they will start signing good players at reasonable prices. At least, that's how I see it.

Is this your first year following the Saints? They always take their time restructuring and cutting. They'll get the guys they want.

I assume this allows us to target or at least consider some of our own UFAs...like Casillas, Devery, Elbert Mack, Roby, and Drescher (LS)

Good Points. It seems that people always freak out this time of year. At times it is the same folks. One would think they would have learned about how things work during the Off- Season process by now, or at-least performed some search queries to stay abreast and or become aware.

Often referred to as "The Sky is Falling" Time of year. First they curse Loomis then praise em for doing an amazing job. Plenty left to do though; as this maybe one of Loomis' most challenging off seasons.

High priced (1st Tier), free agents often, do not play up to their contract. We are looking for of the 'diamond in the rough' type players that are salary cap friendly, at this point. We still have a series of cuts coming in the pre-season. It has been proven that it is possible to 'steal a gem' during this time.

I would definitely like to see Mack re-signed. He seemed like a player on the rise last year. And a long-snapper is someone who doesn't figure into the mix much, but having a good one is crucial, so I would like Drescher back too. Casillas is a good backup LB and plays well on special teams. However, Henderson and Roby are not priorities in my opinion.
