Sony to release El Muerto (Marvel) (1 Viewer)

lol, Sony is run by insane people. This guy has literally appeared in TWO issues of Spider-Man and that's it. That's his entire history in Marvel. Two issues of Spider-Man. Not two story lines, two ISSUES. And they were from a decade and a half ago. It's literally a character that nobody knows or cares about and they're trying to build a franchise around. This isn't even a deep pull, it's an arse pull. Absolute madness.

Two issues? Wow. They do know they can have a Hispanic actor play a character that we’ve heard of right? It doesn’t have to be Captain Taco. Like Scorpion could be Hispanic. We pick some rando? It kinda makes it worse doesn’t it?

Tarantula is still available

I just read that Sony owns the rights to 900 Marvel characters! And this is the one they picked?

To be fair, a lot of those 900 fall into this category. Just random Spider-Man supporting characters of various levels of insignificance.

Man, is Sony reaching or what?

Not really. It may sound like reaching, but this is a play for a bigger share of the hispanical market. You guys may not know who Bad Bunny is, but he is extremely popular with the young hispanicals everywhere. And El Muerto obviously plays into the whole Day of the Dead thing.

I know who Bad Bunny is. The gripe for me and likely most here is not the actor selected (although some could argue there as well). The issue is the character selected. There are others of Hispanic origin, like Tarantula mentioned above, a part of the Spider-Man mythos.

This is a terrible idea..

And stories say he is in 2 comics, it's actually one according to this. First appearance(and only), then dies in the same issue.
