N/S Sounds like Suh to Tampa (1 year deal) (1 Viewer)

I think this a net negative for them going from McCoy to Suh. Maybe a little cheaper contract, but also have the difference from a known great locker room guy to a character concern.

Well, on one had it weakens the Rams defense, on the other its strengthens the Buccs that already gives the Saints offense fits at times. I think we're less likely to see the Buccs in the playoffs then the Rams, so on whole i guess its a plus for the Saints.

McCoy is better than Suh so I disagree that this strengthens them.

I agree. Suh has 1.5 more career sacks than McCoy thanks to his early success in his rookie and sophomore years, but that’s about it.

Since 2017
  • Suh - 9.0 sacks, 31 QB hits, 13 TFL, 6 passes defended, 2 FF and 2 FR
  • McCoy - 12.0 sacks, 45 QB hits, 19 TFL, 2 passes defended
Since 2016
  • Suh - 14.0 sacks, 48 QB hits, 24 TFL, 12 passes defended, 2 FF and 3 FR
  • McCoy - 19.0 sacks, 59 QB hits, 24 TFL, 7 passes defended, 2 FF and 2 FR
Since 2015
  • Suh - 20.0 sacks, 68 QB hits, 41 TFL, 17 passes defended, 2 FF and 3 FR
  • McCoy - 27.5 sacks, 76 QB hits, 32 TFL, 8 passes defended, 2 FF and 2 FR
Since 2014
  • Suh - 28.5 sacks, 88 QB hits, 62 TFL, 20 passes defended, 2 FF and 3 FR
  • McCoy - 36.0 sacks, 89 QB hits, 45 TFL, 11 passed defended, 3 FF and 2 FR
Since 2013
  • Suh - 34.0 sacks, 108 QB hits, 71 TFL, 26 passed defended, 3 FF and 3 FR
  • McCoy - 45.5 sacks, 110 QB hits, 60 TFL, 15 passes defended, 3 FF and 3 FR
Since 2012
  • Suh - 42.0 sacks, 140 QB hits, 88 TFL, 28 passes defended, 3 FF and 3 FR
  • McCoy - 50.5 sacks, 125 QB hits, 65 TFL, 17 passes defended, 4 FF and 4 FR
McCoy didn’t break out until 2012 but when he did, he was already keeping pace with Suh. Within a year he already caught up in QB hits and during the last 3 years have been putting catching up in TFL as well. One thing Suh does seem better at is batting passes down.

McCoy has not played that way in a few years.

Neither has Suh. McCoy has had more sacks than Suh since 2012, more QB hits since 2013, and more TFL since 2017.

Lets just sign McCoy, vice versa.

Ah, he’s all hat no cattle at this point. Not worried.
