Zach Thomas today began making his rounds in search of a new employer, and he received his first offer just as quickly.
The seven-time Pro Bowler, released on Thursday after 12 years with the Dolphins, visited the New England Patriots today.
A source close to Thomas said the AFC champions tried to lock up the middle linebacker right away with a contract offer. But the source added no deal is expected to be signed until after this week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis. That would give other teams the chance to get into the Thomas derby.
He still is scheduled to meet Tuesday with the New Orleans Saints. He's also expected to sit down with the Dallas Cowboys this week in Indianapolis.
