Hi,

I want to buy a LCD for TV viewing and Movies. But i am confused regards to whether an LCD TV is better than LCD monitor. Can i buy a LCD Monitor in place of a LCD TV? Would it make a difference?

Can i go for a Soyo 24" Monitor instead of a Sony 26" LCD TV?
I found two great deals for them

Soyo DYLM24D6 24" LCD Monitor $300

Sony BRAVIA KDL-26S3000 26 inch LCD TV $600

Plz help me in making the correct decision.

aileen123,
Lets clarify some things first. Computers can output video through VGA or DVI or (on some special pc's) S-Video. So an LCD monitor would have at least one of those three connections (usually just vga or dvi) but probably no other connections. An LCD TV has RCA or S-Video or newest HDMI but usually no VGA or DVI. There are however a few LCD TV's that DO have a VGA connection for the PC. You will have to search very hard for these. If your computer is older it will probably have a VGA connection. If it is very new it might have DVI only connections. If its in between it could have both DVI and VGA.
The best LCD TV with a VGA connection I have seen so far is the 22" Viewsonic DiaminiDuo NX2232w. This has connections for the pc (VGA), DVD player etc. (RCA and Composite) the new HDMI and coax input for cable. The really cool thing is this tv has its own HD tuner built in. So you would just plug the cable into the tv and watch everything in HD. As of yet I have NOT seen an LCD TV with a DVI connection, only VGA.
Hope this helps..

aileen, you didn't make it clear in your post - are you planning on hooking this up to a computer or are you planning on hooking it up to a tuner (like a cable/DirecTV box)?

I recently got a Westinghouse 26" monitor for my computer - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824255011

it's got VGA and HDMI (but oddly, no DVI) inputs. for my computer, I use a DVI to HDMI cable and it's a great monitor for what I do. I hooked it up to my DirecTV HD receiver though HDMI and the picture was quite nice, though the speakers suck.
