Spagnola Defense (1 Viewer)

Spags couldn't bring in his own assistants, ran a hybrid of his actual defense because the players we had weren't built for it. He was doomed to fail from the start because of the head coach's blind loyalty to assistants who should have been gone.

Spags was the DC the year Payton was suspended

He was hired prior to that suspension and was handcuffed with what he could do. He succeeds everywhere but here says something.
IIRC, and I may not, Spags' defense is based on real-time decisions by the players and it's very complicated. I seem to recall that most of the issues with the defense were players either making the wrong choice or taking a split-second too long to make the decision.

Didn't Sean admit to an extent that Spags was handcuffed some when they let him go, but felt the firing was still needed?
