Spencer Rattler On The Rich Eisen Show (7/3) (2 Viewers)

Rich seems kinda awkward, why is he keep saying his name after he ask Rattler a question.

I think this coaching staff will benefit Spencer a lot. Statistically, Jalen Hurts didn’t have his best season last year, but his decision making, accuracy, and efficiency improved in Kellen Moore’s offense. I expect similar improvements from Spencer in year 2. QBs make their biggest leap from year 1 to year 2, so he’s going to make it tough on Shough at first for sure. Looking forward to watching them compete.
If we’re going to talk statistics then maybe they both have a great chance over the statistics of 1st round QB’s not becoming great.

How do you even gauge who starts? You would think only 1 gets 1st offense snaps in preseason games for reps. .

With 3 preseason games:

Game 1-
Rattler 1st String; Shough 2nd String; Haener/Drekkers 3rd String

Game 2-
Shough 1st String; Rattler 2nd String; Haener/Drekkers 3rd String

Game 3-
Haener/Drekkers; Rattler 2nd String; Shough 3rd string

QB competition is wide open and that assessment will take much needed reps away, while still testing performance for a starter.

In other words we may need the QB battle over with by at least 2 preseason, so we can gain additional reps with our QB 1.

Id prefer it wrapped up before preseason game 1 but that's not realistic.

I'm still rooting for Rattler to win the job. If he gets beat, he gets beat. But there is something about this kid I really like.

Serious question. Like what? I like his mojo and his arm among other things. But when I look at him compared to someone like Jameis, I don't see a single thing that's better than Jameis, and Jameis never made it as a successful starting QB. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see a ceiling of good, not great.

*OK*.

I think Rattler has a quicker release and is a more natural scrambler than Jameis, but it will all come down to the CPU. Jameis never lacked for highlight plays, he just couldn't avoid questionable decisions that often led to negative plays. If Rattler is better in that area, he'll have a solid chance to have the better career.

Even last year, when rattler struggled, I thought he had “IT”, there’s a highlight reel of him going around wish I could upload it for you guys, but it just shows that he has a good head on her shoulders, and he avoids the hard hits from defensive players. He knows how to get out of the way just enough to not receive full impact. Training camp is going to be a blast and I got to figure out a way to get on that field when they come out here on the West Coast. I would love to have his autograph on my helmet

There is a world of separation between Jamie’s and Rattler. Maybe in a few years he could be as good as JW, but right now they aren’t close.

Man, are we still harping on about Jameis? Let it go man. That was an experiment from Sean Payton's team, two head coaches ago.

Rattler's arm is very good. He had incredible poise with an absolutely terrible team in his starts. He took pretty good care of the ball while the games were competitive, only having bad plays once we were firmly in desperation mode. Confidently commanded the huddle and had the respect and support of his teammates. Got better as he got more playing time. Has decent to good scrambling ability, but doesn't rely on it as a first option.

There is a lot to like about Rattler if you choose to see it. If you're still waking up at night in tears because Jameis isn't here then you'll probably have a hard time seeing it.
