Agree to 6-year pact with drink maker
Friday, January 26, 2007
By John Reid
After months of working with the NBA to gain corporate sponsorships to ensure the Hornets' successful return full time to New Orleans after this season, team owner George Shinn will announce today that the franchise has reached a six-year agreement with Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages.
The company is based in Plano, Texas, but does business locally as 7UP Southeast Bottling Co., which opened a distribution center in Gonzales in November. Some of Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages products include Dr Pepper, 7UP, Snapple, Mott's Apple Juice, Diet Rite, Hawaiian Punch and A&W Root Beer.
Under the terms of the agreement, 7UP will become the official soft drink of the Hornets, and Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages (CSAB) becomes the exclusive provider of non-alcoholic beverages at the New Orleans Arena.
The partnership also entails advertising, branding and signage opportunities inside and outside the Arena, including in-game promotions and merchandising. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
