Star Trek: The Lower Decks (1 Viewer)

Honestly, I thought by the title it would be a porn. It looks funny, hopefully it catches on.

There was actually an episode of Star Trek: Voyger with was a riff on the concept of checking out what goes on with the crew that you don't see every episode. Yes, I am a Stark Trek nerd.

There was actually a TNG episode called "Lower Decks" that followed four junior officers for the entire episode. When I first saw this I thought it would be a play on that. I'm not...enthused about it now that I've seen a preview but I will give it a shot. Now that I think of it, this most likely is a play on that. Just a more comedic direction than I expected.

I don't know how I have managed to miss that episode. I looked it up and I don't recall it. And I thought that I had seen every TNG episode at least 10 times.

The Voyager episode I was thinking of was "Good Shepherd." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Shepherd_(Star_Trek:_Voyager)

I remember that episode. One of the JOs volunteers to go on a spy mission against the Romulans. At the end of the episode it's announced she was discovered, and executed.

I recently learned that there was supposed to be a DS9 episode where they find out she's actually alive, but it ended up being shelved.

Yeah if my memory is correct, that character is the same one from the episode "The First Duty." That’s the one about Wesley's Academy squadron that was performing an outlawed piloting maneuver for graduation and one of the pilots died.

Yep! I just checked. Sure was.

First Duty was a boss episode. Picard bosses up on Crusher. One of my favorite Picard speeches.

"But a lie of omission is still a lie."

"The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth! Whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth. It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based! Now if you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened you don't deserve to wear that uniform!"

Hot damn. I miss that show!

I caught the first episode last night. So far, it looks promising.

I never noticed that. I do acknowledge that I got the spy mission wrong. It was the Cardassians, not the Romulans.

The Lower Depths was a play written by Maxim Gorky (1902)
Gorky is a pretty interesting cat, but the play is noted for being one of the first to focus on the poor (most all plays before that focused on upper middle class or above)
