COLUMBIA, Mo. – The dinosaurs, along with the majority of all other animal species on Earth, went extinct approximately 65 million years ago. Some scientists have said that the impact of a large meteorite in the Yucatan Peninsula, in what is today Mexico, caused the mass extinction, while others argue that there must have been additional meteorite impacts or other stresses around the same time.

A new study provides compelling evidence that "one and only one impact" caused the mass extinction, according to a University of Missouri-Columbia researcher.

but the earth is only 6000 years old right?

huh, what religion claims the earth to be 6 G's old? never in my life heard that one.

Google "Young Earth Creationism" sometime, Kcirdor. You'll be surprised.

These constant and strong tides must in long intervals have mentally challenged the rotation of the earth to such an extent that 7200 million years ago the earth must have rotated with double its present rapidity.

Perhaps many critics confuse Christianity's claims of the beginning of the world/mankind/Adam with physical beginning of Earth.

On the ground of these and similar calculations Schaafhausen gives the age of mankind as 10,000 to 15,000 years, which, however, is purely an estimate. One thing at least is certain: instead of the 100,000 and more years formerly given, the age of mankind may with much greater probability be placed at about 10,000 years as the mean approximation. We are thus approaching ever nearer to the chronology of the Bible, according to which the Jews reckon that 5673 years have now (1912) elapsed since the creation of the world, or rather of Adam.

But they missed one Dinosaur...

good luck explaining that to non-scientific types though

i would rather have thousands of t-rex running around than than purple annoying freak.....

true story:

my son is almost 4.....we were at lafreniere park this past weekend when some freak shows up in a barney costume for no reason....well all the kids start goin bonkers except for the older kids and my son.....i asked him, "dude, you wanna go see barney??"....he looks at me and says, "daddy, i don't like barney, he's for girls and babies"

priceless

What I'd like to see however, is an explanation for the massive die-off in the oceans around that time. You'd expect to see some effect, but not the major extinctions that took place.

PS: Some of the comments on that page are hilarious!

Offshoot fundamentalist christians. Like the ones at Liberty U, Jerry Falwell's "university." They actually claim to have a fossil that is 3000 years old.

Here is Richard Dawkins, discussing this amazing 3000 year old fossil :
