I just arrived to Ramstein Germany 3 weeks ago. So what you say. Well last time I lived in Europe, you guessed it I lived in Naples, Italy during our Super Bowl run which as you know culminated with a Lombardi. Some may call this a reach, but I prefer to see it as perfect timing, LOL. If only things could work out the same way. I haven't started a thread in a few years and felt this would be the perfect one. Sending out good vibes and blessings to all my Who Dat brothers and sisters throughout the world during this pandemic. By the way I got a neighbor that's a Bucs fan across the street he hasn't spoke, but he gives a great stank eye LOL. I just have the bare necessities with me right now, still waiting on my household goods, but I do have my Saint's flags which I have been flying every gameday.(I said bare necessities, and yes the wife was P'Oed   )

Ramstein AB is an awesome assignment!!!

(I was there from '89-'93.)

So much to see and do:

-French border nearby: check out Cora and of course, Paris isn't that far!
-Skiing in southern Germany and in the Alps;
-Cycling locally or from the French border to the Citadel in the city of Bitsche, AND (if they still do it), Outdoor Rec sponsors a 3-day bike ride along the Mosel River on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends)
- Many, many historic sites esp as regards Roman Empire. (Trier is a must see, and nearer, the Donnersberg.)
-"Neat places" like Burg Nanstein castle ruins "a few miles from the gate" where "the last fight of the knights occurred" (now used for great Halloween spectacles) and there's even a local village named Frankenstein!

Have a great adventure!

I'm retired from the military now, so this will be my first time living overseas as a civilian, so I can't wait until the restrictions are lifted so I can get out an explore.

I believe my wife thinks I was joking, but if we win it all I can assure you I will be in New Orleans for the parade or whatever they are allowed to have. Even if I have to where 10 masks and a HAZMAT
suit LOL!!!! I almost got goosebumps just talking about it! You stay safe also. Who Dat!!!!!

Stationed at Ramstein 85-89 great assignment! Geaux Saints!

I know you stated that you’re retired, but I want to take the time to thank you and every veteran and service member for all you have done for us.

Without your continuous sacrifices and unparalleled bravery, we would not be able to enjoy the liberties we have access to. Thank you for everything. I pray God’s continued favor upon you and your families.

From my heart, you are very much appreciated.🙏🏿🇺🇸

I truly appreciate that. I really never understood the gratitude from others when I was active, but as I've gotten older and left the military it means a lot more, so thank you and know fighting for all Americans and this country was my pleasure, well at least some of the time LOL!! Who Dat!!

I appreciate the info, I had to google what you said LOL!! I'm still learning and my reply is Ich Werde. I think that's right :giggle:

Reminds me of joke I learned while in Germany:

What do you call someone who speaks 3 languages:
Trilingual

What do you call someone who speaks 2 languages:
Bilingual

What do you call someone who speaks 1 language:
American

(I was born and raised in an area full of French (Cajun) speaking folk, but... the PTB decided it was a SIN if kids were taught the French language. And Dad refused to pass the language on. Sad.)
