My wife works a 2nd job on Saturdays. Her employer has not withheld SSI and Medicare under the CARES act. It is my understanding that this was just a deferral and was supposed to end December 31, 2020.

But, the employer is still not withholding these, even though they are withholding Fed and State taxes.

Do we need to worry about this? Will the employer withhold the cumulative amount(s) of SSI and Medicare (employee's portion) at some time in the future?

Could the IRS send us a tax bill?

I tried a few times to call the IRS, but always ended up with a recording stating that due to high volume, they are not able to help.

Thank you for any help/suggestions!
