First and foremost I love me some Taysom Hill. He is literally our Superman and the part he plays for this team is so important. But when he starts at QB and he will be the starter it won't be the TH we come to love. The Hill going forward will be the Sean Payton protected Taysom Hill not the running hard making plays football player. Hill will now be a, and I really hate to say it, but a pocket passer. Sean Payton will now try and utilize one of his best weapons in a way we know he's not at his best, hopefully Payton won't be to protective but with Hill missing some games because of a concussion I won't hold my breath

I agree that's what will happen if Taysom becomes QB1, but this is why I feel he shouldn't be QB1 b/c he's a useful player, but I don't think he's useful as a pocket passer. If a pocket passer's what we want, it should be Siemian. If you want Taysom, you gotta let him run and run hard.

Yup, it’ll be taking away one of the few weapons we have on offense. It literally doesn’t even make sense, but I’ll just sit back and trust Sean as usual.
If Payton feels like he has to protect Hill from concussions, then he's not going to used on special teams and as the joker anymore.

It's completely illogical to think that Hill's concussion makes him not a viable QB option, but does make him a viable special teams and joker role option.

If he's too fragile to play QB, then he's too fragile to play. QB's are the most protected players on the field, after kickers and punters.

y'all seem to have forgotten what happened in those 4 starts.

4 games as QB
39 carries for 209 yards, 4 TDs

the other 12 games he didn't play QB
48 carries for 248 yds, 4 TDs

nearly triple the production on the ground when he is our starting QB

That's 836 yds and 16 TDs over a full season. That would make Lamar Jackson proud.

Does that sound anywhere remotely close to the stats of a "pocket passer"?

Good stats, but that’s pre-4 week concussion. I think the worry is that post-concussion they may be more careful with him. And last year we had Winston ready to go behind him.

And when he runs, it increases his chances of getting hurt and fumbling the ball. His line is there to protect him. A pocket passer is better in Payton’s offense, with the occasional run, as we would see from time to time with Drew.

Not sure. Much like Jameis, we won’t know how much he’s grown as a passer until we see how much he’s grown as a passer. If you would have told me that Jameis could be a 13 TD, 3 int QB or Siemien could be that efficient yesterday, based strictly off their past, I wouldn’t have believed you 🤷🏾‍♂️
I’m sure everyone will get their fair shake in practice and Sean will make the right decision regardless of what any of us think from seeing a small sample size of previous years

If that's the logic, he shouldn't be playing the joker position, either.
