TE/HB Future Star, Taysum Hill.. (1 Viewer)

I

The only stupid thing in this thread is your idea that we're stacked at TE.
I did not say we had Great tight ends jus that we have all positions filled currently with good to decen ones! As a TE Hill could not beat out what we have for what they can do! Does he have potential at the position? Yes he would be intriguing but since we have enough to fill the spots why would we need him there when we can call him the 3rd QB and use him anywhere and everywhere!

Fans, ask yourself this question, "how long will the Saints bury Taysum Hill's talent and abilities on the QB depth chart?"

Before the Teddy Bridgewater trade, I posted that Taysum Hill was the next Jordy Nelson. Back then the QB Meeting Room was a mess. And, during that time, Mickey Loomis might have been smiling at press conferences but, behind the scenes, the GM knew he had a problem at backup QB.

The thought of Tom Savage backing up Drew Brees was scary. Taysum Hill is a good athlete, but no one wanted him on the field starting games as the signal caller. The addition of Teddy Bridgewater, a former 1st-round pick, calmed the waters at backup QB. Adding Bridgewater gave the Saints a true QB talent who could guide a potent passing attack and win games with his arm. The addition also cost Savage a job and solidified Hill as the 3rd-string QB. Good riddance to Tommy, but Hill is a guy who needs to be playing now.

Let's get real. We all know a guy projected to be a starting QB would not be wasted on special teams. In the last game, Hill ran zone-read plays that showed his talents as a runner. If Hill can blow past LBs and fake DBs out of their cleats, then why isn't that a bubble screen? Why isn't he running drag routes? And when will the Saints use this kid to run seam routes and attack the middle of the field the way Jimmy Graham once did?

Yeah, I know.. after Brees.. after Bridgewater.. there is a chance Hill could, one day, play QB. So, Taysum playing backup to Tommy Lee Lewis is the best plan you can muster for this guy? Right now, without blocking skills, Taysum would be the second best TE in the TE Meeting Room and likely leading all TEs on the team in receptions. SP needs this guy on the field being defended by a LB or the Saints can continue to use Hill as a gimmick player and special teams backup to TLL.

GO Saints!!

.. Saints

You Hill's little brother?

i just read his wiki and he sustained season ending injuries every year of his college career. Not sure if that was just bad luck since he is a special teams beast and looks to be the most amazing athlete on the field.

In his freshman season of 2012, Hill was the #2 QB on the depth chart. He was initially brought in for special packages to utilize his athleticism in short-yardage situations. His very first play from scrimmage in college was an 18-yard touchdown pass against Washington State in the home opener. Hill wound up playing in 6 games for the 2012 campaign, having started 2 (winning in both starts), before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the closing seconds of a victory over Utah State.[8][9]
Hill entered the 2013 season as BYU's starting quarterback. After a tough 19–16 loss in the season opener at Virginia, he bounced back the following week against Texas, with 259 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 40–21 win.[10] In 2014, Hill sustained a fractured leg against Utah State on October 3, ending his season. BYU lost their first game of the season that night.[11]
Hill suffered a lisfranc fracture during the 2015 season opener against Nebraska on September 5.[12] After the game, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced that the injury would cost Hill the rest of the season.[12] On February 16, Hill announced that he would be returning to BYU in 2016, instead of pursuing options to play at another school as a graduate transfer.[13] He was granted a medical redshirt for 2015 and was eligible for one final season in 2016.[14] On August 23, Hill was named the starting quarterback over sophomore Tanner Mangum, who had started after Hill's injury in the preceding season.[15]Hill changed his jersey number from 4 to 7 to honor his older brother Dexter, who died earlier in 2016 and who wore No. 7 as a player.[14][16]
Late in 2016, Hill suffered a fourth season-ending injury. Against in-state rival Utah State on November 26, he went down with a hyper-extended elbow injury in the fourth quarter, and was unable to finish the season.[17]

Taysom is amazing!!! He has soared towards the top end of my favorite players. Dude is unreal in many ways

Damn, Well at least he never has to play against Utah State again.

That comparison didn't make sense then and it doesn't make sense now.

This is actually a pretty stupid thread! We’re stacked at TE on our depth chart right now, do not need any more halfbacks, but a third string QB makes sense. It fits him into the roster and he can play the role! Fact that he has become a special teams ace is a huge plus!

SP has a vision for him and does not want to release it all at once. TH will continue to be used more and more and differently as the season goes on. Who knows what he will be doing once the playoffs roll around!

Your hung up on a designation for him when in reality he is one of 53 players and always active on game day!

Why is someone "hung up" on a designation for him, even worth asking? The OP was asking a question, which is legit. All Saints fans like to speculate, on how the team can become better. And it that includes speculating as to what player "A", in this case, Hill, position he could play.

IMO, Hill needs to be worked in at some position, on a regular basis, because 1) He is obviously smart and 2) He has the size and speed. He has all 3 things needed to become a major contributor, Too good of an athelete to have just as role type player. Need to find him a legit position, other than future QB. I think Teddy has that role.
