Funny how the Chiefs, Falcons, and the Raiders have statistically worse defense than ours through 12 games but are ahead of us in the standings... Makes me kinda mad that we were very close to winning at least 3 of our games that we lost... lost opportunities... smh..

The cowgirls have the #18 overall defense and a 11-1 record... ugh... if only we could have a middle-of-the road defense... not saying that is the whole reason or picture but it does seem rather compelling...

If there was ever statistic evidence for the value of ST this is it... Better on offense and defense but still 2-5 games behind these teams...

That order is a bit misleading... it's ordered by yards allowed per game.

Sort by points allowed per game and the Saints are #30.

FWIW, footballoutsiders.com had the Saints defensively DVOA ranked at #22 after week 12. (Week 13 rankings are not yet out.... later today.)

They also had the Saints special teams ranked at #28.

Our defense still stinks.

Dennis Allen is still horrible and needs to be fired. Our "good run of form" is vastly inflated by playing some of the worst offenses in the league. SF, DEN, CAR, LA Rams, KC, & SEA.

The worst part of all of this is knowing Dennis Allen will still have a job here next year. The defense "appears" to be good enough to not fire Allen, and we will waste yet another year of Brees. The door is shutting. We probably have 2 years left until it is completely close, and the FO won't make the tough decisions.

The issue with looking at PPG is that it is not a accurate statistic, when you are looking at PPG and using it to rank a defensive unit. Our offense and special teams have hurt us a lot this year, so the stats are a bit skewed.

I am not saying that our defense should be ranked any higher than the bottom third of the league, but I do have a problem with using stats that don't make sense or don't paint an accurate picture. I understand that technically when the other team possess the ball, our team is on defenses (again technically), but it is not our defensive unit that is getting burned by a blocked FG or a interception returned for a TD.

Stop it. Allen has done remarkably better than Ryan and Spaggs. We got destroyed at CB with injuries. Our first round pick missed have the season, our best LBer can't stay on the field. He is having to play a ghost in Byrd and we have zero pass rushers. I would say he is going pretty well with a unit that has not been close to complete in any part of the season.

What I think he is best at is half time adjustments. Our defense does remarkably better in the second half of most games. Also factor in that our offense and special teams have done a lot to hurt our defense as well. I am not saying he is the best DC in the league, but he is doing a really good job with pretty bad circumstances.

It is now completely evident you harbor a personal issue with Dennis Allen.

You dont pass up a single opportunity to disparage him.

Care to tell us what that was? Did he steal ur girl? Pass over you on a job? I gotta know.

This was just another one of those seasons where NOTHING goes our way. The last two seasons we sucked, no doubt about it. But this season we were good enough to compete with anyone but stupid **** like tipped ball pick 6's, blocked fgs returned for points, fumbles returned for points, terrible reffing, crucial injuries, etc started happening. I still can't believe we won a Superbowl with the amount of bad fortune we've been having. Guess everything equals out

Depends on which stat - the Chiefs are giving up 7 ppg less (fewer?) than we are. That's a huge difference

Seriously??.....................if you can't see the difference in this season and the last few seasons then you never will!!............:angryrazz:

Kansas City reminds me of our Superbowl year. Low in the rankings but getting the turnovers.

OUR defense reminds me of our Superbowl year. IIRC we gave up a LOT of yards but managed to get a turnover and not give up the points. This year, not so lucky.
