Seems like a dumb move by the Pelicans.

Other than dumb luck, players taken at 8, 17 and 35 probably will never come close to the skill level of the player taken at #4.

ETA: I wouldn't mind if the Pels had gotten a Highly Skilled veteran instead of those other picks.

The top 3 picks are the cream of the draft. The cloud of players from 4-10 are about equal. So the Pels can get the player they want, dump a contract in Hill, and have 2 more picks to use or make more trades. It’s a great move.

They dumped Solomon Hill and his bloated contract. Although, the 2020 first round pick is "highly protected".
