Anybody else out there catch this series? It's a drama based on a real case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. That's a condition where a caregiver so desperately wants sympathy for what they do that they will lie about how sick their charge is (sometimes going so far as to cause symptoms in the individual).
The show follows Dee Dee Blanchard and her daughter Gypsy. They are from south Lousiana, and the show takes place after they moved to Missouri. Dee Dee has convinced everyone (including Gypsy and her doctors) that Gypsy has numerous problems, including a sugar allergy and epilepsy. She has had Gypsy's salivary glands removed, and a feeding tube implanted. She forces Gypsy to use a wheelchair even though she can walk. It's a sad story of abuse, but it's fascinating at the same time.
