It seems like we've been inundated with bad news lately and it can be smothering. War, famine, plague, probably pestilence somewhere. I know a lot of people here are suffering from the economy or personal issues or whatever and it's good to have a place to vent about that stuff and I don't want to minimize anything anyone is going through.

But I wanted to put a place to post good things. Can just be small things that are going well personally or even national/world items that are positive. Maybe you got that promotion or finally landed a threesome (the good kind, not devil's). I just want to read some good news. I know this thread will take a nosedive, as these things tend to do, but whatever.

I'll start. My kids want to get into plays and performing. They're young and they've struggled with hitting the right notes and staying on key singing to the point where I figured they were never going to really be decent singers. Well one of them got the lead in a small local community theater musical and the show is this weekend. I just watched a video of one of her solos and damned if she wasn't hitting the notes and sounded really good. It really filled my heart.

Also, I came across this little guy running this morning. Such a striking color.

Let me see... I discovered a new Vodka that will cut my alcohol expenditures in HALF. At least.

I might have danced around with the bottle in my arms for a few minutes. A ballroom dance of sorts.

More seriously
Congrats to your daughter
Just putting this on your radar, prepare for the possibility that whatever friendships she makes will probably be more intense than usual
Relationships are typically way ‘deeper’ than school or team friendships- they’re closer to summer camp type relationships

We’re on a family vacation in Hot Springs. Got a VRBO on Lake Hamilton. The listing said the property is 2.48 acres. It failed to say about 2 of that is vertical. There’s a staircase that leads from the deck to the dock. It’s 135 steps up and down. Good workout. This may be one of our last family vacations. The oldest boy graduates from college next Spring, and the youngest starts college in August. So the “good” is we’re almost done with these people on our payroll.

Already starting with controversy in an "all good things" thread.:hihi:

I HATE snakes. All of them.
Snakes are extremely important to rodent control AND several nonvenomous ones eat the venomous ones. In all seriousness, join a local online snake ID group, and the knowledge you gain there will help you to appreciate how beneficial they are.

I understand that & am not saying they don’t provide any value. I just say no to the nope ropes.

I’d rather get a cat.

I’m sorry
Ima come to NOLA and find you to go drink beer. All I need to do is walk around the Quarter asking "where's that dancer-looking dude named Guido?" I mean, what could possibly go wrong???

On a personal note, yesterday I was offered and accepted a new job with a home health company as their area sales rep. When they told me my salary/commission package, I almost fell over. 20K+ more than I'm making now. It's a very positive move, since I have no love lost at all for my current employer. I'll miss my coworkers, the facility staff and my patients, but it's time for a change. 18 years as a therapist is long enough.

My goal now is to try not to be a dick as I write up my letter of resignation.

Its been a true season of change. 22-year marriage-kaput, 14-year-old car-kaput, job-kaput. In a manner of speaking, both the car and the marriage had been in the bonus round for several years. My ex and I get along better living in separate houses and neither of us is inclined toward another relationship. I've got a new (used) car that brings back some of the driving experience lost in a Prius. The job change really needed to happen, so good riddance to my soon-to-be ex-employer.

I've documented here on SR some of my recent struggles, but this really feels like a pivotal moment. There is always reason for optimism. Sometimes we have to be patient as it comes to us, or dig a bit deeper to find it.

Apologies for the longish post. Great thread btw.
