I just watched Invincible , They should have made the Beerman story instead , it would have made a much better movie This guy Papalle was a bartender took a shot at a open try out and just barely made the team had a few good plays in 3 1/2 yrs and could not play anymore
he was just a fan.and that was AFTER they spiced up the screenplay like hollywood always does . Michael Lewis struggled for yrs chasing his dream played on every kind of team that would have him, drove a beer truck next to the practice field and dreamed of being there he never gave up . Now THAT would have been a much better story

IF we can get to the S-Bowl and Beerman has a big game (not even a TD return, just big a return or two), you can bank on Hollywood starting the script the next day.
Here's to that happening!
GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it didn't help Vince Papale's cause at all that the acting and production value were downright terrible.

I think the same thing. The Lewis story would truly be much more inspirational. Lewis worked a lot harder to get where he is. Only reason Papalle went to tryout was because of his friend gettin on to him about it. Besides, Lewis' story is one of Hope. And in the wake of Katrina, a lot of people didn't have hope. But a lot did.
But, ya know hopefully we will see a movie about this season. With ole' Katrina and the rise from the South. I mean to me, I think it would make a good movie even if we lost to the Eagles. But I don't see that happening. I'm pretty confident.
The lewis story does have another chapter. And I thank God everyday, for being here alive and well to be able to see this chapter unfold.

It's OUR Time!!!!! It is OUR time!!!!!

They both have great stories and one doesn't have to be "better" than the other ... it's not all that often in the NFL for a guy watching his favorite team in the stands becomes a player for that team the next season. It's also not that often a guy drives a beer truck in a city (where he is a fan of the local team) only to become a member of the local home NFL team.

I can promise you this: If the Saints make the Super Bowl then you will see several books, films in production, and just about anything that they can slap a price tag on and sell as inspiration. I think we will probably see this anyway, even without a Super Bowl, because the story of last season and this season is just too incredible to pass up.

I attempeted to watch that last night, but stopped before I even pressed play. I can't watch anything great about the iggles until they get romped on Saturday.

I hope Lewis returns for 2 tds, screw that THREE tds, tomorrow. And one or two Bush returns for Tds...take that, Hester!

The truth is the movie "Invincible" stretched things even more than they were in real life. Althouhg Vince Papale "didn't play college ball", at the time of Vermeil's coming on board for the 1976 season he had already been a pro player, playing for the WFL Philadelphia Bell for two seasons (1974-75). Already a fan favorite becuse of his being a local, he was INVITED to try out for the Eagles by Vermiel-- there was none of this "making it out of open tryouts" baloney...

See that's what i mean it was an awful movie even after they TRIED to spice it up The Beerman would need very little spicing

After I saw that movie I thought the same thing. Michael Lewis' story would make a much better movie.
