The Election Day Voting Irregularities Thread (1 Viewer)

I went to vote and all of the tables for checking in were open except mine, which had a line. I had to wait behind two people for a couple of minutes. I felt disenfranchised.

Seems newfangled voting machines and AARP-aged pollworkers don't mix...some places the pollworkers don't know how to turn on the machines.

The Nation's Most Irregularious States
Novemer 7, 2006

In Indiana, the brand-new touch-screen voting machines are (shockingly) totally useless and confusing. Because voting is both for and run by old people, no one can even turn them on. Poll workers couldn’t turn on “about half” of Marion Country’s machines.

All of Washington State is apparently under water. Rain and flooding has already left one person dead, and Rain Gods threaten that more carnage will follow should Washingtonians dare to head to the polls.
In Ann Arbor, polls opened five minutes late, almost disenfranchising the one guy in line.

Ohio: Same deal as Indiana. The AP reports that voters rolled their eyes.

Same here; does everyone in my area have a last name in the second half of the alphabet?

Voting....yeesh, I wanted to check "none of the above" for a few of them, especially for TX governor. After what I went through at school with my son for the last few weeks (and what I'm still going through), anyone who would throw out TAKS would have a point in my favor. These kids are just drilled drilled drilled drilled all day long....and they're THIRD GRADE. Let 'em be kids, for goodness sake. And my wonderful property tax relief....didn't amount to squat. When Kinky starts to make sense, then we're in trouble! :_rofl:

I'll get off of my rant for now....

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the possibility of voter intimidation in the U.S. Senate race between Sen. George Allen, a Republican, and Democratic challenger James Webb, officials told NBC News.

State officials alerted the Justice Department on Tuesday to several complaints of suspicious phone calls to voters who attempted to misdirect or confuse them about election day, Jean Jensen, Secretary of the Virginia State Board of Elections, told NBC’s David Shuster.

Voting problems crop up early on Election Day
Complaints in Fla., Ind., Ohio, as workers tangle with new machines, rules
MSNBC staff and news service reports
Updated: 45 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Programming errors and inexperience dealing with electronic voting machines frustrated poll workers in hundreds of precincts early Tuesday, delaying voters in Indiana, Ohio and Florida and leaving some with little choice but to use paper ballots instead.

In Cleveland, voters rolled their eyes as election workers fumbled with new touchscreen machines that they couldn’t get to start properly until about 10 minutes after polls opened.

“We got five machines — one of them’s got to work,” said Willette Scullank, a trouble shooter from the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, elections board.

I just caught "Hacking Democracy" the other day on HBO. It freaked me out. Cuyahoga County was one of the jurisdictions reported on.

Heh, maybe I need to specialized in election contest litigation. Guaranteed money. Just as your litigation is winding down from the election two years earlier...it's time to vote again! It seems the parties love to spend money on this stuff.

Here's a sample of the threatening phone calls the FBI is investigating in Virginia.

The YouTube poster is blaming Allen, but there's no proof who's behind this junk...yet.

More problems in Ohio

At 10:15 a.m., I was the first person to vote electronically at my precinct in Cleveland Heights. Having arrived at 6:30 when the polls opened, we were immediately told by poll workers that none of the five cards voters use to vote electronically were functional. In fact, I'm fairly certain that the majority of the cards came up as dead on arrival.

BREAKING: Philly Fraud
November 7, 2006

In wards 7, 19, 51 in Philly, PA, the crowds are going wild. Inside several voting locations, individuals have poured white out onto the polling books and the poll workers are allowing voters to go into the polls and vote without first registering. Several individuals are on hand demanding that voters vote straight Democrat.
