The Gulf Oil Revenue Sharing - Bill Passed!!! (Merged) (1 Viewer)

You have Florida and California really opposing it strongly (even the bill that does not open up drilling in other areas of the country).

Brings up the age old question. Does excessive sun tanning and plastic surgery cause extreme liberalism?

They would have needed 290 votes in the House (only got 230something last time), but if it goes back to Rules Committee, they can change it requiring a simple majority. Senator Landrieu worked extremely hard on this bill, and it should pass but for a bizarre alignment of very left and hard right and environmentalists.

Did you just give Landrieu credit for all of Jindal's hard work? :ezbill:

Pffff. Jindal's bill had NO CHANCE of passing in the Senate. Even President Bush wasn't going to sign off on it. The Senator has been working this thing for about 10 years, and we're close but no cigar yet.

What bill number is Landrieu's bill? I see Jindals is HR4761.

Is Landrieu's SB3711?

Jindal was just on w/Garland...said that the bill will be voted on tonight.

It was a slam-dunk on Wednesday.

It would definitely get done on Thursday.

Now they are going to vote on it today.

What if they don't have quorum later? After all, it's Friday and you know some members of Congress will be heading home for the weekend.

Am I the only one who thinks this thing won't get done? Because it's now or wait several years with the leadership changes that are coming.

Is this the bill that doesn't take effect until 2017, giving Congress ample time to once again pick apart money that is to be spent on fixing things in Louisiana?

Even if it does pass, it means nothing...
