311As the biggest Brees fan on the planet, I'm seeing for the first time that decline we've been talking about.
If we get any negative play during a series of downs, we are almost guaranteed to get to 4th down. Brees gets sacked, series is over. Offensive holding, series is over. It's sad to see, but it's happening.
That being said, we saw the very best of Drew and his intellect. He's the smartest QB to ever play the game.
But yeah we can't get the ball down field anymore.
Which is why Michael Thomas has to be declared the best receiver in football, knowing our offensive pass plays are very limited.
28-35 228 yards, 3 TDs, 0 Ints will win you a Super Bowl however. All is not lost. Let's keep the faith.
Why do folks get so upset when Drew is criticized?

You can. I'll forever stay out of that dumpster fire. You can go into any game day thread
For sure. We will see how it goes the rest of the year. But at last he attempted the throws today. I can't remember him taking this many shots downfield in the last 2.5 years.
I don't know if it's necessarily being upset with criticism of Drew as much as it is exasperation with the criticisms being inaccurate and often unfounded. Why do folks get so upset when Drew is criticized?
This. I have to admit that I'm struggling with this current stage and not knowing what will come next. Drew is not immune to things that have been said about other QBs when they reach 35+. People say the same things about Rogers, Rivers, and Brady. Except in the case of Brady he goes out and wins another ring. In our case, it's been 10 years since our peak; that worries me.I don't know if it's necessarily being upset with criticism of Drew as much as it is exasperation with the criticisms being inaccurate and often unfounded.
His career is going to end much sooner than we as a fanbase will be ready for. And he's metaphorically in the old folks' home part of his football life, but this constant rush to be the first one to throw dirt on his grave instead of visiting him and checking his chart is a real drain on those of us who really just want to enjoy the show while it's still on.
