Guard and center. Drew Brees is great at avoiding the rush but if you want to beat him you have to get pressure up the middle. Rex Ryan knows this. The last time Brees faced Ryan he had one of his worst games as a Saint. In 2006 Ryan was the DC of the Ravens and he got that pressure up the middle that seems to be Brees' only vulnerability. Brees threw up 3 Ints that day. The Jets are missing their two starting CBs so if Brees gets time we should be able to eat them alive.

This is a bad time to have our LT position banged up because we're going to have to help Strief out which means there is going to be even more pressure on the middle of the line. The good news is that Nicks and Evans are two of the best young guards in the league.

I tried to edit this because someone else already posted a similar thread. Why is the edit option not working?

The Jets are not the Ravens.

Stop the Jets running game, force Sanchez to have to throw.

Protect Brees

This is not new, the Bears already did this last year when Strief was in, pressuring and overloading the A gaps so Strief was usually by himself, he only gave up one sack that game, the other one was on Evans, who didnt have a good game, which caused some extra pressure. He rarely has a bad game so it shouldnt be a problem. Contrary to popular belief, Strief did not receive a tremendous amount of help from an extra te, so like I said for the most part he was not receiving help, he gave up one sack early on a bullrush and then did fine.

So, Im sure we will be fine, because when you bring extra people Brees will usually find someone. Strief will be fine at LT, as long as Nicks, Evans and Goodwin do their job and Brees can step up into the pocket. Strief has game experience, this is not his first game, and we are better off with him than Bushrod.

I'm not knocking Strief by any means. The guy could start for a lot of teams.
