I picked up that this is set after the ROTJ/Fall of the Empire from the Imperial Credits comment to Action Jackson but were the Storm Troopers really Storm Troopers and what is left of the Empire? Their armor looked worn out.

The interaction with the IG gave me a Odd Couple vibe which I found pretty funny.

I thought the interaction worked well and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I would have thought an IG would act like.

The IG scenes almost had the same comic relief effect of K-2S0 from Rogue One. Each recent movie has had that one droid that didn't act the same as the other droids.

I love the IG-88 story from the "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" book.

This IG seemed very weak compared to the IG-88 in that book, but reading the Wookieepedia article, it sounds like he had reprogramming that was much different from IG-88.

I loved that book, but I believe the one in the episode was called IG-11.

I think they're like a small cell of what's left of the Empire. The Client (Werner Herzog) who hired the Mandalorian was wearing a gold necklace w/ what I thought was the symbol of the Empire hanging from it.

That and he had some Stormtrooper goons in his office. I suppose they may be out of work troopers working a personal security detail. Don't know why they'd keep the uniforms, though, since the Empire has been defunct a few years in this timeline.

I found the first one somewhat underwhelming , hopefully it picks up . I'm apprehensive of the Yoda deal because I feel like there's a two percent chance they can pull off a story line like that and it not be hot garbage . We'll see , I'm definitely watching ...

I'm a little disappointed in the episode run times. Netflix showed us that 13 hour-long episodes tend to hurt the pacing and plot, so I felt 8 episodes might be a sweet spot. But if each episode is between 30-40 minutes? I dunno. It's almost as if they are timing the episodes to conform to commercial broadcast, giving room for ads if they ever choose to air them on ABC and stay within an hour run time.

Seriously, though, I think Favreau did a great job on this. Looking forward to watching episode 2 later today.

I don't like it either, but I'm taking it as quality over quantity. The special effects and everything in this are movie quality. My thought process is going a full hour would increase the cost exponentially.

I don't know that's the reason for sure, but when I compare the effects to other episodic shows, including on streaming, it's much higher quality. That comes with a cost.
