They went to insane lengths to keep it secret. In fact, according to people who work on the dubs for foreign markets they weren't even allowed to work on the back half of the last episode until the last minute. No way they were letting the documentary crew on set for it, I'd assume.
I'd buy into that. I also wouldn't be shocked if we eventually got an entire Gallery episode devoted to the Luke deep fake.

And, I'll say it again, it's awesome how much all these people involved in this show just love Star Wars. It shows in the behind-the-scenes stuff, and it shows in the final product.

Did they explain how Luke knew to look for them on that ship? Wasn't he called to that planet? And wasn't it like several days later that they went after the ship?

there's not a lot of Force sensitivities in the galaxy at this moment - Grogu, Luke, Ahsoka, kal kestis, some random others
it's probably going to be fairly easy for Luke to get a bead on grogu

Pretty much. And remember, Grogu reached out to Luke before he was captured by Moff Gideon. So Luke would have had plenty of time to get underway and fly to Grogu's location.

Grogu immediately sensed Luke when Luke first got near the ship he was on...in all, I think Guido is right here - this is one of those situations we should chalk up up to simply "The Force," and try not to think too hard about it. Luke knew where Grogu was because "Force." And we aren't just talking about any ol' force user here, it's the son of the Chosen One, whose force powers are naturally greater than many others'.

Being able to watch/sense other force sensitives is a pretty well established Jedi ability. Yoda was straight up watching Luke for most of his life all the way from Dagobah.
