Man gets 25 years for microwaving baby - CNN.com

Man gets 25 years for microwaving baby...

"Prosecutors said Mauldin hurt his daughter because he was angry that he was in a loveless marriage. They also said Mauldin had a history of violence and of lying about being mentally ill to get out of trouble."

"Sam Cammack III, Mauldin's attorney, had asked jurors to consider his client's long history of mental illness and sentence him to probation so he could be treated at a hospital. 'He still doesn't get the treatment for mental illness that he needs,' Cammack said. 'He's not going to get that in prison."'

Good for the Texas Jury for not accepting the insanity plea, though I think 20 years may be a little light...

glad he didn't get the insanity plea, but 25 years?! that's all??
Life without parole should be the minium for someone who would put a baby in a microwave, refigerator, and safe...

I'm sure he will have many cigarettes put out on him in prison. They'll probably nick-name him astray.

If he really is mental, then are we to be so angry? Maybe he doesn't know what he does. Maybe he really does need help. If he's not mental, then yeah, rotate on HIGH.

Sadly for humanity, if the kid didn't die, this doesn't even crack the top 100,000 of "most horrible stories of mental illness ever"
