The most important play and turning point in the game (1 Viewer)

3rd and 1 with 5 minutes to go in the half with a 27-21 lead.

Saints offense all 4 previous drives to start the game were touchdowns. The 49ers had no answer for us.

We call a pitchout wide to Bosa's side and it's a 6 yard loss for Kamara. One of those "cute" Payton plays he likes to call as opposed to slamming down the opponents throat.

The chance to take a 34-21 with a clock eating drive was right there on your plate.

At one point in the game this was the box score.

Murray 6 carries, 63 yards
Kamara 11 carries, 24 yards

That's not a joke. That's Sean Payton.
Opposite of genius.

Refusal to take what is right in front of you.

Lol this thread and topic is a joke. We loss because of defense plain and simple. No need to look any further. You score 46 you should win. End thread and delete this
Defense is the main thing.

But this kind of thing with Murray has cost games in the past and will again.

And today it made it all the more frustrating. And Kamara fumbled.

That’s a simple minded way to look at it...there’s always more to it than that

Please enlighten me on how you think time works in relation to football

Ok. We can only know what has happened not what would have happened because there are too many variables to consider. You say that we ought to have done something else because you assume the outcome would remain constant, but outcomes don't remain constant when you change even one thing. You want to believe everything else would remain the same but you cannot know that it would have.

Don’t forget, we took Murray out of the game mid 4th quarter.

What does that have to do with time? It’s a well known fact that if you run the ball then the clock keeps running and allows you to run enough time off the clock and then score so you don’t give the other team time to score

YES! Why go for 2 right there. Just dumb. Wasn't even close. That drove me nuts the entire game.

Agreed. You go for the sure fire points. Payton and company were outcoached today.

Because you cannot say with any certainty that had the Saints run even one play differently that the end result would be the same. That's exactly how time works.

What lost this game was:
Kittle running down the sideline into FG range because of missed tackles
Both our safeties falling down and allowing a 70+ yard TD
Being caught clueless on a trick play

Why in the world would you blame this on what the offense did today. It's like you guys are going to gripe about running the ball and playcalling every game no matter what even happens. Even when the offense dominates. It just wasn't the way you wanted it to dominate.
