For you stat geeks out there, note that only 2 teams with a minus in the give away / take away stat would be in the playoffs as of today. Conversely 10 of the 12 teams that would be in the playoffs today are above the line. The only exception to the rule is the New York Giants who are -5 and Houston Texans who are -9.

We currently are +1 and one of 8 teams that are on the positive side of this stat not in the playoffs as of today.

Does a blocked kick run back for a TD count as a "turnover" cause that is our big problem...

your argument makes it seem like turnover margin is less of an impact.

barely over 50% in + margin would make playoffs, yet 2 that are negative are reaching them if ended today.

The best stat is passer rating differential. We were 2nd the year we won the Super Bowl. I have no clue how we are this year.

This. 40 of 69 NFL champs since 1940 (58%) finished No. 1 or No. 2 in Passer Rating Differential, nearly the same number that finished No. 1 or No. 2 in scoring differential

This year we're 4th with 16.3

# TEAM OFF DEF PDR
1 Minnesota 96.5 74.3 22.2
2 New England 111.9 91.7 20.2
3 Denver 88.8 72 16.8
4 NO 110.2 93.9 16.3
5 Atlanta 114.3 98.9 15.4
6 Tennessee 102.9 88.5 14.4
7 Seattle 94.9 81.7 13.2
8 NY Giants 90.1 77.2 12.9
9 San Diego 93.4 83.2 10.2
10 Miami 94.4 85.6 8.8

Giveaway/takeaway ratio, hands down.

Right now, we're at +1....head barely above water. We'll have to be at least +1 on Sunday to get our W-L record even with the water itself.

6 of 10 on this list would not make the playoffs.
